I'm not sure if this is still true, but long distance infomation used to be the area code and 555-1212. That was in the days when there weren't multiple area codes for a metro area. All of North Georgia was area code 404 when we moved here; now the area code could be 405, or 770, or 678, or 470, or...John Holtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00545030511941957804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-84228849411849492352021-03-04T15:24:16.024-05:002021-03-04T15:24:16.024-05:00Hey Birgit,

The bad grammar prompt is the best for this week. "Ain't Misbehavin'" is a great oldie. I remember Mel Carter singing the song. It might have been the first time, too. I wondered why movies used the prefix 555 and now I know. It makes sense, though. I do recall reading the factoid about the song phone number taking a pounding. Can you imagine the headaches that caused? Drop everything and come to Shady's Place right this minute. :) Look in my right sidebar and you will see your kindness and generosity proudly (and permanently) on display. Thank you again for creating that marvelous Dell greeting card!

I like your song picks, dearie. "Ain't Misbehavin'" sung by Billie Holiday is a great blast from the distant past, and I will have Tommy Tutone's telephone number song stuck in my head the rest of the day. Like you I remember that record being played often at bars and clubs I frequented during the years of my second bachelorhood.

The first angel song that popped into my noggin was "Trouble In Paradise" by the doo-wop vocal group The Crests which begins with the group chanting "Callin' all angels... callin' all angels..." The next song I thought about was "Devil Or Angel" by The Clovers and nicely covered by Bobby Vee. Then I also remembered "Angel Of The Morning," the Chip Taylor song originally recorded by Evie Sands and made famous by Merrilee Rush & the Turnabouts and by Juice Newton.

For my bad grammar pick I'd go with Fats Domino's 1955 hit "Ain't It A Shame." That was the song's original title, but it changed to "Ain't THAT A Shame" when covered by Pat Boone and others. I'd also like to mention "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby" by Elvis the Pelvis, and Roger Miller's hit song "Dang Me" which is referenced by Ernest P. Worrell early in my current post.

A few number songs that immediately come to mind are "Revolution 9" by The Beatles, "#9 Dream" by John Lennon, "Hey Nineteen" by Steely Dan, "26 Miles (Santa Catalina)" by The Four Preps,"Twenty-Five Miles" by Edwin Starr and "2000 Light Years from Home" by The Rolling Stones.

Thanks for the musical entertainment and trivia fun, dear friend BB. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I'll see you tamale --- "At The Movies!"Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07887100141814372022noreply@blogger.com
