I believe I know the 2nd choice but have to listen and especially listen to your last pick. I love the fact that the title is based on when they wrote the song.Birgithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09439720285857050428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-61138787526241788442021-08-23T23:43:22.793-04:002021-08-23T23:43:22.793-04:00Thanks John! Thanks John!Birgithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09439720285857050428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-34078794844837375052021-08-23T23:42:47.794-04:002021-08-23T23:42:47.794-04:00I often don’t know the titles so I have to look so...I often don’t know the titles so I have to look some up but I have been lucky so far due to my love of movies.Birgithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09439720285857050428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-48422415099889052062021-08-23T23:41:19.209-04:002021-08-23T23:41:19.209-04:00I love all your choices here and enjoyed listening...I love all your choices here and enjoyed listening to them.Birgithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09439720285857050428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-36873029145921650102021-08-23T23:40:13.762-04:002021-08-23T23:40:13.762-04:00I got a kick out of the first song but the second ...I got a kick out of the first song but the second song just sounds too evil to me.Birgithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09439720285857050428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-68666136487416814582021-08-23T23:38:57.120-04:002021-08-23T23:38:57.120-04:00Well, I did listen to your choices that same day a...Well, I did listen to your choices that same day and now here I am. I love the first song very much and I know the second one and enjoyed it but that 3rd one is depressing. I know why they composed it this way but ughhh...shoot me. "Another Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin was an obvious one for me. As for the "Toy" song, I'll take it literally and opt for "Toys in the Attic" by Aerosmith. And for a song with a time in the title... "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago is my pick. Many people don't realize the title is based on the time at night the song was being written.Birgit's brother!https://www.blogger.com/profile/02178558291532747729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-30543875875442419282021-08-18T16:09:07.438-04:002021-08-18T16:09:07.438-04:00Great picks! Then I really had to stretch my brain cells to come up with 'Satin Doll' - that's the best I can do.Denisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15045554938847356871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-57959516481664331262021-08-18T07:22:07.232-04:002021-08-18T07:22:07.232-04:00Well done!

I am here sittin' in the balcony ...Hi, Birgit!

I am here sittin' in the balcony with you (ooops... wrong day). I am here to bust my brain with you on the WSC, dear friend!

I love everything produced by ABBA (and Aggie as a solo artist), and have much of their output on CDs. Good job picking the seldom heard but beautiful and touching song "Slipping Through My Fingers." "Music Box Dancer" is one of those catchy melodies that I well remember, but would not have been able to name that tune or the artist. Shirley Bassey is another artist that I admire. I could listen to her powerful yet refined voice all day and never grow tired of it. I enjoyed her rendition of Cole Porter's "Night And Day."

Here are my picks:

BODY PART SONG: "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," a traditional African-American spiritual turned into a secular hit by English boy singer Laurie London. Laurie's single topped the pop chart in the spring of 1958 and went top 3 on the R&B chart. Wiki sez: "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" << was the first, and remains the only, gospel song to hit #1 on a U.S. pop singles chart. >>

TOY SONG: "Rubber Ball (I'll come bouncing back to you)" by Bobby Vee, a pop single that barely missed the top 5 in January, 1961.

TIME OF DAY SONG: I'm going with "7 O'Clock News/Silent Night," a somber, contrapuntal (Wiki sez:) << sound collage juxtaposing a rendition of the Christmas carol "Silent Night" with a simulated "7 O'Clock News" bulletin consisting of actual events from the summer of 1966. >> Released in the fall of 1966 on S&G's third studio album, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, the spoken word "7 O'Clock News" portion contains a reference to mass murderer Richard Speck's slaying of student nurses, a sensational story I remember being thoroughly covered by the media that year. Here is that part of the song:

<< In Chicago, Richard Speck, accused murderer of nine student nurses, was brought before a grand jury today for indictment.
The nurses were found stabbed and strangled in their Chicago apartment. >>

If you haven't seen it, Mrs. Shady and I highly recommend the Netflix series Mindhunter in which FBI agents interview Richard Speck and other mass murders and serial killers. The show is extremely well done!

Enjoy your day, dear friend BB. I'll see you tamale in the balcony "At The Movies!Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07887100141814372022noreply@blogger.com
