I considered using June in January cover by Julie London. Nice song picks! Thanks for sharing. Now, take plenty good care of yourself, my dear! ;)Cathy Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01738079671642137018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-12877793621326398172021-05-15T14:03:20.691-04:002021-05-15T14:03:20.691-04:00So sorry I'm late getting here! For a weather song, "Still Raining, Still Dreaming" by Jimi Hendrix. The intro to that song and the way Jimi gets his guitar to "talk" still gives me chills. Eventually the song falls into an incredibly deep groove. I've long thought this was one of his most underrated songs. And for a month, I'll do a 180 and go to Willie Nelson's version of "September." Poignant and heartfelt. This was one of the songs that helped turn me on to Willie as an American classic.Birgit's brother!https://www.blogger.com/profile/02178558291532747729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-81548076600879287212021-05-12T19:03:17.911-04:002021-05-12T19:03:17.911-04:00Good choices here!Good choices here!John Holtonhttps://thesoundofonehandtyping.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-91730999901065667792021-05-12T17:19:18.520-04:002021-05-12T17:19:18.520-04:00Sorry you are still sore. I thought of America The Beautiful for the first song but picked the other two.
BTW, I had a friend who had moved to Detroit from Philly. She asked me if I wanted a soda and I said "no". When she got herself a coke, I told her I would have some pop. I think the commercial may have been as funny as the Canadian song. In fact, I laughed even louder at the commercial.

The only song I heard before today was Stormy Weather. These are great examples of what was requested. Let me be the first to wish you a happy birthday this month, dear. BTW, do you happen to know Jimmy, Sally or Susie from Canada? :) Yessum, I love that spot at the end. I'm all about diversity and it's good to know Canadians are, too. Also, I never met a beaver I didn't like. :)

I am here to take the Weekly Song Challenge with you, dear friend. Your posting of the song that only makes sense to Canadians is appreciated because it is loaded with interesting tidbits.

I'm not surprised you went old school in your other two song picks. That is again appreciated because they remind us there was popular music before Elvis and The Beatles. Your choice of "Stormy Weather" sung by Judy Garland immediately brought to mind our hometown heroes The Magnificent Men. The white soul band from Central PA, USA, covered "Stormy Weather" and it became one of their signature songs. The Mag Men version of the song was used in the OST of the 2003 Sly Stallone movie Shade.

I also enjoyed The Binger doing "June In January." Didn't we just do a "month" song a couple of weeks ago? Remember I chose "First Of May" by the Bee Gees?

Here are my song picks:

COUNTRY SONG: "Norwegian Wood," penned mainly by John Lennon and released by The Beatles on their Rubber Soul album.

WEATHER SONG: "Storm Warning" by The Volcanos, a regional hit in the summer of 1965 in Philly and along the East Coast including my neck of the woods. The Volcanos evolved into The Trammps, one of the major acts of the Disco era.

MONTH SONG: I'm sticking with my Magnificent Men in choosing their version of the popular standard "September Song," released on the Mag Men's 1968 album The World Of Soul.

I am very happy to know you are on the road to improvement having reached the intersection of wellness and fiddlefit. Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend BB!Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07887100141814372022noreply@blogger.com
