I can think of many good love songs but I never stray far from Leonard Cohen (I’m your man) or Nick Cave (Into my arms).Anabel Marshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15643196773717977697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-91620339518471478622023-02-09T04:50:11.738-05:002023-02-09T04:50:11.738-05:00We love Harry Nilsson's Without You, it brings...We love Harry Nilsson's Without You, it brings up so many memories💗Thank you showing the love between you and your honey, that makes it even more complete💗Double Pawkisses from us especially for you🐾😽💞Peachy, Stippie, Angel Binky and Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14587887219557917751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4141871469594180795.post-55026027294259814872023-02-08T14:36:46.280-05:002023-02-08T14:36:46.280-05:00Without You just rips at my heart. That picture of you and your hubby is...Hi, Birgit!

That picture of you and your hubby is a keeper, dear friend, a delightful couple portrait, but where's my buddy Harley? I've come down with a serous case of "Harley withdrawal." :)

I well remember the song "Some Enchanted Evening." One of my earliest childhood memories is of listening to the chart-topping 1949 version by Perry Como. My folks bought that 45 and I played it on my tiny tinny turntable in the basement, entertaining myself for hours pretending to be a DJ. Later on, I added to my personal collection the single by Jay And The Americans that was a top 5 hit up there in Canada in 1965. Are you familiar with that group's rendition of 'Some Enchanted Evening"?

"Without You" is another sweet and memorable love song. I well remember Nilsson's version. Checking the stats, the single entered the Billboard Hot 100 on the bottom rung, at #99, a week before Christmas, 1971, possibly signaling that the record would be a flop. But it held on and in the ten weeks that followed climbed all the way to #1 where it remained for an impressive 4 weeks. Nilsson's cover also topped the U.S. Easy Listening chart 5 weeks. Thanks for letting us know that Harry had a bad heart and died young, same as Bobby Darin.

"For My Lady" is unfamiliar because I am not as big a fan of The Moody Blues as are you and many others. It is indeed a pretty song, one that tugs at the heartstrings.

I'm drawing a blank. I can't think of a single love song.

(BA-DUM-DUMP)

But, all seriousness aside, as funny guys on the radio used to say, I'd like to mention one particular love song that has always meant a lot to me. "I Love You" (how's that for a title?) was recorded by the psychedelic pop sextet known as People. Released at the start of 1968, the single was a slow burn. It took more than five months to climb the chart and reached it's peak in late June inside the top 15. It was on a night in June, 1968, that I met the future Mrs. Shady #1 on the dance floor of the Shady Dell. We fell for each other, became a couple and adopted "I Love You" by People as "our song."

Have a wonderful Wednesday, dear friend BB. I'll be here waiting for your tamale, sitting in the balcony-- "At The Movies!"Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07887100141814372022noreply@blogger.com
