I always like that Mambo #5 song. We Canadians are nuts about hockey so there are actually 2 major hockey songs but I went with Stompin' Tom. I love your choices. I am here to bust my brain with you o...Hi, Birgit!

I am here to bust my brain with you on the WSC, dear friend! I see that your selections are esoteric as usual. Great job!

Looking back, I think my love of musicals began with "Indian Love Call."

(BA-DUM-BUMP)

As I watched that clip, I got the feeling Nelson Eddy was singing those words to me... only me.

I enjoyed the party atmosphere as the crowd whooped it up to that live performance of "Mambo #5."

The Canadian "Hockey Song" is new to my USA ears. Again, the audience really got into the spirit as Stompin' Tom Connors sang the much loved and time honored sports anthem.

Here are my picks:

LOVE SONG: Sorry, I'm drawing a blank. Can't think of a single one. :) OH - wait! I just thought of the hit "Let Your Love Flow" by The Bellamy Brothers, a country pop duo from my neck of the woods - Pasco County, Florida. Their single topped the chart in the spring of 1976.

NUMBER SONG: I'm gonna match your #5 with one of my own - "Little Wild One (No. 5)" by Marshall Crenshaw, a soulful new wave - power pop singer, songwriter and guitarist from Detroit who has been compared to Buddy Holly. The official music video for that 1985 single was popular and frequently requested on the MTV style station where I worked in the 80s. I was fascinated by the shooting and editing techniques on the video and borrowed (stole) those ideas when I produced my own vids for the station.

SPORT SONG: I'm going with the comedy rock novelty record "Basketball Jones featuring Tyrone Shoelaces" by Cheech and Chong, a parody of "Love Jones" by Brighter Side of Darkness. In the fall of 1973, "Basketball Jones" reached #15 on the Hot 100 and #13 on Cash Box, becoming the only spoof to peak higher than the corresponding original.

Thanks, BB. I'll see you tamale in the balcony "At The Movies!"Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07887100141814372022noreply@blogger.com
