I love time saving single-panel cartoons. You either get the joke or you don't. The stuffed turkey cartoon you posted is an excellent example.

I appreciate the message in crooner Bing's "I've Got Plenty To Be Thankful For." The song makes reference to shopping at the "five and ten cent store," something I often did with my mother when I was a young boy. She often took me with her as she shopped downtown at discount stores and the more elegant department stores. Riding the elevator from floor to floor in the latter is a pleasant memory.

During our recent 60-hour cable and internet outage caused by hurricane Ian, I got out my boxes of DVDs and played some of them. I was pleasantly surprised to be reminded that have half a dozen ABBA DVDs in my collection. Watching that clip from 1977, it is hard to grasp that Aggie is only a few months younger than Shady D, meaning that she will turn 73 next spring. Please say it ain't so!

I also enjoyed hearing "Thank You" by Dido, an English singer and songwriter who performs in the interesting musical styles of electropop, downtempo, trip hop and folktronica. All these new genres to choose from, Birgit! When I was a kid, there was only chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

The first "thank you" song that popped into my noggin was "I Thank You," a top 10 hit (top 5 on the R&B chart) for soul men Sam And Dave in 1968, and covered nicely in 1980 by ZZ Top, a top 40 hit for the bearded boys from Texas.

Have a wonderful (and thankful) Wednesday, dear friend BB, and I'll be waiting for you tamale in the balcony "At the Movies!"Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07887100141814372022noreply@blogger.com
