Yippee-My first card of the year...well shown here:)

I plan to create allot more cards this year. I have no idea what happened last year..oh yeah-sickness, Shingles and no craft room for 2 months but now I have my very own razzle-dazzle craft room that my hubby made for me:) Now I am all about the blue ( not that bass) and I used something new! I got the reindeer as a Christmas present and I love it, as so much can be done with this deer. I stamped and then embossed the deer, I shall call him Gaylord as he seems to be prancing and may have a thing for Prancer. The Aegean silver is really cool glittery embossing powder. I used my fancy scissors to cut him out (he is vain so that is why he has 3 images of himself-he is all about the selfie). I edged the paper with light blue glitter. I took my glossy cardstock and experimented with something new to me....I placed the colour on some plastic and sprayed water on it and then laid the card down and pressed it into the colour. I used a dark blue and bright blue. I have no idea if I did it right and I did not use the distress inks as I only have 1...I know something is wrong with me. I added some more sparkle to the blue background because I can and then I mounted the reindeer on the background and that was mounted on a nice shimmery dark blue paper. I added some sticker border and I am done!
I still have some Christmas décor to take down but I wanted to make a card and I started another one! Now off to watch a movie....
I think Gaylord is cute. You did a good job with the card. I hope this new year is a creative one for you.
ReplyDeleteBetty
Gaylord seems pretty happy and I hope I am creative
DeleteYour card is beautiful and your experiment with the colour is great too. I don't think there is ever a right or wrong way to do things just whatever you want. Look forward to seeing more of Gaylord.
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering CHNC Challenge extra.
hugs
Margaret M
Thank you and Gaylord thanks you too
DeleteGorgeous deer! Love the colorful background. Thanks so much for playing along in the Something New Challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog with us this week :)

DeleteShingles are awful! Had them before. Hope you heal fast.
ReplyDeleteThe deer are really cool.
Ughh still feel the pain after all this time-Gald you like the deer
DeleteGaylord is a handsome stud, Birgit! He looks happy to be alive and stamping. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh he is stamping his feet to be near Prancer:)

DeleteThis is beautiful - I love the cool shades of blue and the pretty silver reindeer. Thanks so much for playing along with 52CCT this week!
ReplyDeleteWe're newish around here so I didn't know you made cards. That's so cool. I really like it. The wife and I try to handmake each other cards. Keeps things fun. But I don't think any of ours will end up looking quite as good as 'the professionals,' aka yourself!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you and yes I create cards and general mahem...in my mind:)
DeleteBEAUTIFUL! I love your cards. Can't wait to see more in the coming year.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope so...create more
DeleteGaylord is definitely a happy deer, I think mainly because you made him sparkle and shine so beautifully. Please let this be the first in a long line of cards you will create and show this year. You always do a wonderful job and I love to see your cards :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much:) I love sparkle and shine and hope to create a card at least once a week:) Maybe more:)

DeleteYou'll win one or more of those awards. I love the card. Sorry about those Shingles things. I hear they are murder. Hope you're better and stay that way.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much:)
DeleteGaylord looks happy to pose :) and card looks good to me. We need a photo of your new craft room, and get yourself a shingles shot. I hear it can come back!
ReplyDeleteOnce I feel it is all gone I plan on getting that shot. I did post a picture a couple of months back on my new craft room:)
DeleteOMG, you had shingles? OUCH.
ReplyDeleteI love Gaylord. I bet you have so much fun creating your beautiful cards.
Oh yes...It is not fun at all and the pain is intense. I love making the cards:)
DeleteIt's a great card. You can be all ready for next Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh BIrgit, I'll never get over your humor. I'll tell you a secret - you're one of my favorites. Shhhhhh* I'm glad you're experimenting around because this card turned out AWESOME! I love the triple of reindeers and that inky background. I'm telling you though, you have to try those Distress Inks. You'll be addicted in no-time flat!
ReplyDeleteI thought I responded here a couple days ago. Thank you so much. I love your creations and what you write. Glad you liked my card
DeleteLove the colours you have combined very non Christmas colours. Thanks for playing in Christmas Cards All Year Round Challenge
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed making this card and love your blog
DeleteThis card is just beautiful and I love that you gave this handsome deer the name Gaylord. It's very fitting, I think! Your name caught my eye in the Simon Says roll of cards, as my name is Birgit as well. Where I'm from, it's not a very commonly used name. Most people have never heard it before. I too have a dog and three cats. Just funny tidbits I found in common while enjoying your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat names must stick together:) Thank you regarding my card:)
DeleteWhat a great card to begin 2015 :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteA great card indeed, awesome way to start the new year
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to start the new year in a great way

DeleteHappy Tuesday.....
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday:)
DeleteAmazing card (as always!) I love the way your experimental background turned out. So sorry to hear about your shingles. I've been dealing with adjusting to a new Rx and have been to brain fogged to compose comments for a while.
ReplyDeleteThank you about the background-I think it looks not too bad. Shingles suck
DeleteStunning card, Birgit. I love the colours and the deers are gorgeous. Thank you for joining us at ABC Christmas Challenge. Luv, Wilma
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deletec'est très élégant Birgit, j'ai un faible pour les rennes, très beau dégradé de bleu, merci de jouer avec nous chez 52CCT, biz
ReplyDeleteMerci!:)
DeleteSo pretty! I admire anyone who has the vision to create pieces like that. I guess I'm envious because it seems the kids and writing have sapped all my creative energy, but there used to be time for crafting. Maybe there will be again one day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
Your creativity is your writing! It is not sapping your creative energy as it is being utilized in a different manner:)
DeleteYou have an artistic gift that I certainly don't have.
ReplyDeleteWhat movie did you watch?
Lee
Tossing It Out
Thank you! My hubby and I watched 3 movies: Boyhood-ZZzzzzzzzz-just don't get why all the hoopla except for it being filmed over 12 yrs. Expendables 3-Fun action flick where you don;t need brains to enjoy this. The 100 Foot Journey which I really enjoyed. I would not have it up for any awards but it was a really nice film to sit back and enjoy. The Indian father is excellent!
DeleteMaybe I should give Expendables 3 a chance then. My wife loves action flicks, but we both hated the first The Expendables. Most of the action took place at night or in dark places and we could hardly see what was going on most of the time. I thought it might have been our TV, but afterwards I tested it with any movie filmed in normal light and everything looked just fine.

Tossing It Out
No this takes place in day time and don't expect any major thought in this flick except allot of blowing up real good events in this flick. I did enjoy Antonio Banderas
DeleteAegean glitter is also a REALLY cool name for a craft product. I just picture the sea, sparkling under the sun...ah, warm temperatures!!
ReplyDeleteI love the card, BTW. And your card-making room is like the stuff of DREAMS. Go enjoy it!!
I do enjoy my room and the glitter is so cool
DeleteHappy Wednesday;)
