Gratitude or Kick me in the Ass and tell me what Life has to Offer
So I can bitch and moan with the best of them and where does that get me? I start channeling Marlene Dietrich calling everything "Kvatch" (crap) and singing "Falling In Love Again". You don't want to see this..or worse, hear this because you will think cats are mating and are not having a good time.
So I missed last month's Gratitude Circle which you can find at Vidya Sury's blog. This wonderful lady often speaks about the joy of living. You should check it out. On the last Thursday of the month, people can join this circle and speak about what they are grateful for.
1. Birthday Mahem! If anyone has read my recent posts you know that, in May, I went through 7 Birthdays in 2 weeks, not including my own. Someone wrote on my blog how blessed I am to have These many birthdays to celebrate. I had to ponder this and realized she is absolutely correct! My family means the world, my hubby means even more and my friends and their kids I keep close to my heart. I am blessed to have so much celebration. They loved their gifts and we all enjoyed nice gatherings the past few weeks.
Me and Hubby, Hubby and Me
2. Spring! My hubby has been hard at work keeping the yard looking really quite pretty. The side yard(we live on a corner lot) used to be gravel and full of weeds and now it is a beautiful lawn all thanks to hubby since I can't. To be even more honest he has forbade me to touch any plants since I seem to be the kiss of death. Hell I would even talk to them and they would still die. Hmmm maybe I needed to use some breath mints.
Front Garden-I did not touch them:)
3. I am a dog person...I love my Wallace and I miss my Katie girl deeply. My hubby is a cat man and we have 4 cats, Naddie, the boy who can't meow and runs like a girl, Lucy-the Diva, Jade the lover and Mia-fat, fatty, fat...and a bit psycho. What are we to do? Oh yes get another cat! I am a cat lady (sigh). We rescued another one and named him Kaspar (not Casper:)) He is a sweetheart who is 2 years old, loves to play and all the other cats are not happy. Wallace, on the other hand, is infatuated by him. He was found on a golf course where I think he was trying to get a hole in one but probably using the sand pits for his own litter box. Even though he has that evil moustache from many silent film villains, I am so grateful for this kitty- he just better not climb my Christmas Tree in December or he will be hearing violins! :)
Kaspar or Snidely Whiplash:)
Lovely photo of you and hubby - can't see his green fingers in it, but he obviously has some. Kaspar is gorgeous - and looks as if he knows it.
ReplyDeleteAnabel's Travel Blog
Thanks you so much and he does have the green thumb although you only see that under ultraviolet light:) Oh Kaspar knows it
DeleteYou have much to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteWe do and we need to remind ourselves of this at times
DeleteSo many birthdays means you have a lot of family around you, and that's good thing.
ReplyDeleteKasper looks happy. He knew a sucker when he saw one.
Family and dear friends. There is a sucker born every minute and I am one when it comes to animals
DeleteLovely cat. Nice to have green fingers. Wish I did
ReplyDeleteI wish I did too but I seem to do the opposite
DeleteHi, dear Birgit! What a stunning floral display! Like your husband, I am the member of the family who has a green thumb. However, in fairness, all of my plant specimens are cacti and succulents and all are kept indoors, climate controlled, in containers. I love dogs and cats. Kaspar has such unique markings and I thank you for posting a picture of him. I also thank you for taking him in and giving him a forever home along with your other lucky pets.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday, dear friend BB!
I think if we can we should help animals in any way since they need our help. My hubby has indoor plants as well. I go upstairs to one room and I feel like it is day of the triffids:)
Deletelol crazy cat lady at your sea, nothing wrong with that. Those golfers will sure find a present if they get stuck in a sand trap
ReplyDeleteYup crazy it is and let's hope they don't mistake something icky for one of their golf balls
DeleteWhat a lovely picture of you and the Hubs. He is quite the gardener. Your flowers are gorgeous. I wish I had someone with a green thumb to perk things up around here. I'm really trying with a vegetable garden (small, very small), but it's looking like another Touch and Go year. (sigh)
ReplyDeleteI'm allergic to cats, so I haven't touched one since I was a kid. BUT, I think they are so pretty. Your new kitty is no exception. He does look like Mischief Incarnate with that moustache. Look out Christmas tree!!!
I always tried to make things grow and I would have one or 2 flowers on the plant. He swoops in and whammo! Flowers galore. I am lucky I am not allergic and believe me, Kaspar better not climb the tree or his name will become Snidely
DeleteAww, you and the hubby are too cute! Love this post...and what a beautiful cat!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and Kaspar is a cutie
DeleteYour flowers are awesome! Good job, husband o' Birgit!
ReplyDeleteThese pets attach themselves to your heart and then, whattaya gonna do?
He gets a gold star! One should never, ever look at the animals because then you are done!:)
DeleteHi Birgit....lucky you My man is the kiss of death in the garden so it's all down to me...he can at least mow the lawn without killing it!....my cat snaffles went up the Christmas tree every year...little monkey she waited till it was fully decorated and straight up! bless...miss her antics xxxx
ReplyDeleteOh so he gets his fingers slapped if he touches a plant like I do:) Funny how much we miss our fur babies even when they do something they are not supposed to. Kaspar better not since I have some precious ornaments my mom made and glass blown ornaments
DeleteThat is one cute cat! He looks like he has a mustache! I love your humor. That part of your yard is gorgeous! Your hubby did a great job on it. I'm sure he's just looking out for your best interests and health by having you stay away from working on it :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute picture of the two of you!! You make a smashing couple!!
So true to be grateful for having people to celebrate birthdays with and having that many celebrating birthdays in a short period of time. Always good to have family and friends that are dear to us.
We do have lots to be grateful for. I tend to be a whiner, I should live more gratefully myself.
betty
Kaspar was almost called Groucho but I secretly still love Snidely and he will be called that when he does something naughty. I can feel like a whiner also so I am glad to post the grateful blog post because it reminds me of what truly matters
DeleteNice photo of the two of you, Birgit. Our daughter, Amy, loves cats and works with a rescue group for diabetic cats. Enjoy Kasper with the movie mustache!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. Alicia and Carol have landed at the final point in Fairhope, Alabama!
So glad they landed! How wonderful that your daughter helps out with cats who have special needs-truly wonderful. Your daughter has a big heart
DeleteWe have a rather dull yard. Hope the sprinklers keep working while we're gone or we'll have a dead yard. Actually with the drought and having to cut back on watering schedule we may end up with a dead yard anyway.

We keep getting rain and will have a rainy weekend. I am sure your area would rather have some of this.
DeleteBIRGIT ~
ReplyDeleteOh, I definitely vote for Snidely Whiplash! That's a perfect name and one of the all-time great cartoon villains. Now you need to get two more: a Boris Badenov and a Natasha Fatale. Then your villainous cartoon cat collection will be complete.

OMG! Love the names and we have 4 other cats. The oldest, Naddie I could see being Boris for sure. Lucy our slinky Diva cat is definitely Natasha-hahahaaaa. I wish I thought of that years ago:)
DeleteYour yard looks beautiful! I guess being banished from helping means you get to just enjoy the view. Not a bad thing! :)
ReplyDelete~Jess
I do admire the view and am overjoyed at how much better it looks
DeleteIt's always good to stop and be grateful for one's many blessings. Much better (and quieter!) than the alternative.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true. If we gripe everyone can hear that and that simply won't do
DeleteYou have a beautiful smile. Soy una perdedor.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
That is very sweet-Thank you:)
DeleteSnidely Whiplash. That's what you should have named him!
ReplyDeleteI did but my hubby didn't like the name. He does not understand the deeper meaning of this name-lol
DeleteYou and the hubby are a very handsome couple.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is beautiful.
Kaspar is a doll baby. Love the crooked mustache:)
I thank you so much. Kaspar is a doll with that evil mustache
DeleteWhen I met my husband-to-be, a cat lover, I told him it was either me or a cat due to asthma. While he kindly chose me, dare I say that God had other plans? Having loved most all animals through the years, I was blessed by a determined stray cat whom we lost in August of 2014 after a battle with feline breast cancer. I am on great medications and we have two remaining kitties after Luna the cat's gift of love transformed my life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful story and look what you sacrifice to have this love in your life and I do mean the pussy cats:)
DeleteWhat a delightful, delightful post, Birgit! The cats mating and not having a good time had me literally spluttering with laughter!
ReplyDeleteIs that lavender in your garden? Such fabulous colors - seems like a mini-vacation just to look at it!
Love the photo of you and your hubby - you're just gorgeous you know - inside and out!
Hugs! Love you!
Oh wow Vidya-that is so sweet of you to say. and our garden is really beginning to take shape
DeleteSuch a wonderful post. Wonderful picture of you and your husband. How nice for you that your husband enjoys gardening, you can enjoy the beautiful flowers. Love Kaspar's markings!
ReplyDeleteKaspar is a fun cat. My hubby finds gardening very calming which he needs since he is Mr. ADHD man
DeleteI love Kaspar. He is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteHe is a spunky little boy full of love
DeleteBreath mints! hahahahaha. I just love your humor, Birgit. Naddie who runs like a girl. Do you know, well you can't know, but I now throw like a girl. I used to have an arm on me. Not anymore. I'm lucky if I can throw a ball 10 feet. No, make it 5 feet. I hope I can still throw 5 feet.
ReplyDeleteToo funny because I always threw like a girl and I run like a girl with my arms and hands stretched out as |I run-very, very girly. Can you tell how un-sports I am:)
DeleteYour post made me laugh, Darla! I'm not a cat person, but Kaspar does looks unique! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks fo rjoining our Gratitude Circle this month.
Glad you enjoyed the post. I was never a cat person and one time, long ago I had a "I hate cat calendar" even though I never hated them but I loved dogs more. Now I can't imagine my life without these critters. Believe me, there will always be a dog in my life though
DeleteI'm a dog person, as well.
ReplyDeleteBut, Mrs. Penwasser objects when I bark and chase cars.
At least she trained you to go outside when you need to. At least I hope she doesn't use those doggie pads
DeleteCats are fun loving creatures but even the best of them totally freak out.
ReplyDeleteOMG! That was too funny and that man really got nailed! I still felt worse for the cat
DeleteYou always make me laugh, and for that I am grateful! Beautiful kitty. Sounds like he found the perfect home.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a laugh. We need that every day. Thank you-we will try to make this a wonderful home for him
DeleteJilda and I do a gratitude ceremony about once a month. We light a candle, give an offering (money that we donate to some charity) and after expressing our gratitude, drink a toast to all the gifts in our lives.
ReplyDeleteOh wow-that is super! I wish more people did this
DeleteIt's nice that you appreciate family and aren't overwhelmed with too many birthdays at once. The yard is gorgeous! Congrats to your hubby! I'm so pleased you are giving rescued cats a home. I love cats and find them calming and not too demanding.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog! I'm weird about pics of myself and family, so I don't post any. Hedy Lamarr is on a platform in the pic, far away, with lots of people around her, and if it weren't an archived photo from Getty with a caption, I'd never know it was my grandfather or her.
Have a great weekend! :)
Oh we try to give animals a home-well not rhinos or camels but dogs and cats...more cats right now. They all deserve a good home. No probs about the pics and totally get it but it is a neat shot even if it is in long distance
DeleteYou definitely have a full life. I don't know what it is about this time of year. From January til June it feels like it's always either someone's birthday or a holiday!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth! March and May are big time for birthdays...oh and February also
DeleteI love birthday season too (our "season" is December - everyone was born then, apparently). Great time to spend with family. Especially cat family. Snidely Whiplash - love the name. He just needs a top hat, a cape, and an evil plan.
ReplyDeleteOh double whammy for December. He, I believe, already has an evil plan he only needs the top hat and cape
Deletewonderful post ! so lucky to have a list of 7 birthdays, loved the pics of you and the garden. I don't like cats and I am not comfortable with them... my husband is kind and if he finds one, he will go out of his way to reach out to a cat...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much and you know what? I was not a cat lover either. In fact I was known to not care for them but then I met my hubby who ,loves cats and now look! I do think of myself as a dog lady but I love all animals
DeleteHi I dropped by having seen your blog mentioned. My hub just got himself a cap like that. I immediately instagrammed it. I think they're quite hmmm on a guy. I also have lots of rescue animals so declare us twins.
ReplyDeleteThank you-I think my guy looks pretty dam fine. Glad to hear about the rescue babies
DeleteI have to say...what an awesome couple! You both look great together! Oh the garden is beautiful. We kill everything. My hubby finishes off what I have started...between us we've perfected planticide! I cannot imagine a home without furballs...the more the merrier. The Kasper look dapper with that 'tache! So grateful you have shared these with us.
ReplyDeletehugs Asha
Thank you so much-I have to laugh at planticide:)-I am a serial planticide killer-lol Furbabies bring so much warmth and love
DeleteHahaha! We have a few things in common, Birgit. My word of choice is Scheiße. ☺ Great photo of you and your hubby. Beautiful garden as well. Happy Belated Birthday.
ReplyDeleteTschüß!
I love it and how did you write it in German? I don;t know how to do that. Love that German word
DeleteIt's my favourite! ☺ You can type in the characters by using German Alt Codes. Here's the link: German Alt Codes. Alternatively, your computer's Character Map has them as well and you can copy/paste.
