Our weather has been all over the place and it is March which means...typical! We had a huge snowfall last Tuesday which started to melt due to warmer temps and then, Saturday with cold temps and some more snow. Yesterday was warm again but by Wednesday, back to cold...bleccchhhhh.
What's a gal to do...but make cards!
Poinsettia rubber stamp, Gold dye ink, embossing gold powder, tombow markers, scissors, pop up dots, stickers, stickles.
Christmas Card Throwdown-Bright red, Apple green, Pale taupe colour
Crafty Hazelnut Challenge 1-No Patterned Paper
Glitter N Sparkle-Anything Goes
Yes, another Christmas card to get you in the mood...or not:) I stamped the flower on basic white cardstock twice. I coloured the image and then I fussy cut it out and stuck it onto the linen card stock. I cut out just the flowers from the 2nd stamped image and used pop up dots to give a 3D effect. I added the stickers and the yellow and red stickles for some bling. It's hard to see on this picture and I took this quickly with my I Pad before coming to work.
Rubber Stamp, Green and gold dye ink, Embossing powder(green tinsel), Corner punch, Stickers, Crystals (just glass), Wink of Stella(Gold).
Color Throwdown-Green, Black, Gold/yellow
Butterfly Challenge-Fancy edges/borders and can do mint green
Alphabet Challenge-Anything with Wings
I had fun with green although I wish it was all about money but, alas, it is not. I stamped this image with my multi green dye ink and a bit of gold on the dandelion weed. Let's face it-this image is a weed or the flower I call Deewa:) I embossed it with the green tinsel, punched out the edges, sponged some green along the edges and adhere it to black cardstock and green cardstock. I finished it off with green bling and stickers. The little butterfly was also given some bling with gold wink of stella. WTF is wink of stella? It is a tube that looks a bit like some liquid lipstick but it holds glitter that one can get in different colours. The glitter is subtle which is nice and it comes with its own brush so you just brush it on.
Now I am going to do the A To Z Challenge and it will be about movies once again. I almost didn't do this at the last minute because I am thinking you are bored with my movie talk. I am hoping to showcase not only a movie but do a small highlight with someone associated with the film...we'll see how it goes.
Your cards are always so beautiful, Birgit. I'm happy you're participating in the crazy fun of the A to Z Challenge. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDebbie @ The Doglady's Den
Thanks and I better get started!
DeleteMovies work for the win any old day. And yeah, stupid weather is all over the place as it gives us more snow, ugg. But at least it let you give some great cards a go.
ReplyDeleteThanks and the weather is nutty. Glad you like my cards
DeleteNot too soon to plan for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMovies! Big fan. Will be fun.
Glad you are looking forward to my A to Z
DeleteHi, Birgit!
ReplyDeleteThanks to you and your pretty cards we can stay in the Christmas spirit all year long! :) I remember how fickle the weather can be up north during March. Beware of hidden layers of ice that might be lurking under the fresh snow. The drastic temperature swings are sure to produce a spring crop of potholes, too! :)
You have been a great friend to me this past year and I look forward to your movie theme A to Z run. When you get to the letter "M" I urge you to review Mars Needs Women (1967), winner of 50 Academy Awards. :)
Have a fab week, dear friend BB!
Ahh yes, I know black ice and I know potholes. There are so many films with women on the moon and needing men...wait for the letter Q
DeleteTwo stunning cards Birgit....love the poinsettia stamp and your card is so colourful....winter is ping ponging about here too.....sleet at the moment just as I have visitors coming and want to be out and about....never mind xxxxx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like my cards and this weather is crazy
DeleteWelcome back to the challenge! :) Movies are a fun theme :)
ReplyDeleteThe Multicolored Diary: WTF - Weird Things in Folktales
Thank you
DeleteThat first Christmas card is outstanding! You have a great sense of design and it all fits in,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much:)
DeleteThose poinsettias are beautiful. :) Have fun with A to Z!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I take it you are not participating?
DeleteMovies are always a good and fun theme for the challenge. Will look forward to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you enjoy
DeleteThose poinsettias are pretty and foliage is always Christmassy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along at Christmas Card Throwdown.
Thank you. I had fun making this card
DeletePretty cards. I know what you mean about the weather. We just had a warm up, but tomorrow rain is forecast. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is nuts!
DeleteBored with movies? Never.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you will enjoy this
DeleteI'll not ever be bored with your movie speak, Birgit. Looking forward to it. I don't know yet if I'll participate.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards. Your dandelion one is so true. The other day I saw a butterfly on a dandelion plant. It seems rather content.
Glad you won't be bored. Dandelions I always find pretty
DeleteBeautiful cards, especially the top one. Good luck with the challenge, I'm sure your encyclopaedic knowledge of movies will not let you down!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them even if one is Christmas:) hope you will enjoy my picks
DeleteCute cards. "Wink of stella" is a funny sounding phrase! It is stuck in my mind, almost like a song! lol
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what it was u til I found it in the craft store
DeleteLooking forward to your A-Z posts, although I won't be joining the challenge this year.
ReplyDeleteBummer but glad you like my theme
DeleteGreat looking cards. Will visit your A to z as able to this year. Not taking part, time constraints.
ReplyDeleteBetty
Thanks so much and also glad you will be visiting
DeleteIt's always the right time for a beautiful Christmas card. Your cards are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Thank you so much
DeleteA little hard to believe it is now...spring
ReplyDeleteConsidering today it is -5 or whatever, yes, spring seems far away
DeleteYour A to Z theme seems a lot more interesting than mine.
ReplyDeleteI think yours will be fun too
DeleteAlways look forward to your movies!
ReplyDeleteOh, the memories of Christmas! Feels even in the spring.
ReplyDeleteYes, thanks
DeleteBirgit, beautiful job on both, especially love the poinsettia card! I see you use Tombow markers. I use their charcoal pencils which I really like. I have three different brands of these and Tombow have a better feel on paper in my hand. I have a bunch of the Marvy LePlume II markers which I like but the thing is they tend to dry up too quickly. I don't use them like I should, so maybe I'm asking too much out of them. How long do the Tombow go before drying out? Assuming yours don't get used up first. lol I'll be looking forward to your movie A2Z prompts. I'm glad you're sticking with this theme because you always bring something new to my attention. Have a gr8 day, my friend!
ReplyDeleteMy tombow markers last a few years. I bought one green marker about 10 years ago and it is finally drying up. I love my pastels chalk and my prisma pencils. I am looking forward to your A to Z and glad you are looking forward to mine
DeleteLooks really pretty with the green glitter paper. A lovely layout and I like the sweet butterfliy. Thankyou for fluttering by my challenge. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteLove the first card, can't really tell with the second one. Enjoy the A to Z - not doing it this year.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like my Christmas card. Sad you can't do the A to Z
DeleteI like the idea of you highlighting someone in the films you select. That could prove very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will be..I better get started
DeleteTwo lovely cards. I love all the green sparkle on the second card. Thank you for joining in Butterfly Challenge #74 - good luck!
ReplyDeleteLiz - Guest Designer xx
Thank you and glad you like the sparkle:)
DeleteYour cards are so pretty. Every time I see your hand-mades, I think...Gee, I have all this card stock. I really should do something. The new twist on movies sounds great. Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteNow I wonder what cardstock you have:) hope you enjoy my A to Z
DeleteThe brilliant red poinsettia with the gleam of gold is just gorgeous. THEN I saw the green bouquet...enlarged it to get a better look (which worked fine!) and this is just such amazing sparkle. The green shades are so pretty, and the gold really compliments that shade so much. Like the corner details and the silver embossing on the background. The bad weather sure inspired you for certain! These are beauties! TFS & Hgus
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I love using gold embossing powder and glitter
DeleteI'm glad you had an opportunity to work on your cards. What fun.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of including a blurb on someone associated with the movie on your A-Z.
Have a great one.
Thank you and I hope my Aa to Z doesn't disappoint
DeleteThere has to be a trade secret to "stamping" the flower onto the cardstock, I suspect because your cards look professional. Obviously your not going to blather the magician's trick to the audience, hehe but I had to ask. As for the movies - So juicey with sugar and spice on top. I want to write like that, good factual and punchy. The only critical acclaim I've observed in my travels across the blogosphere applies to bloggers everywhere from time to time. I'm so guilty of this - in 2010 I purchased a blu ray laptop, thrilled I was and wrote Star Trek The Motion Picture (Review) and inserted my new blu ray pics. To echo the words of Paul Newman, "Less is More" If only I had known this 7 years ago, haha.
ReplyDeleteThe rubber stamp has the image , in rubber, and you take ink and ink it up and then place it on the paper...voila! One can use basic ink that dries right away or one can use ink that doesn't dry so you take powder(various colours) and place it on the image. It sticks to the ink part and then you dry it with a heat gun. I really hope I can keep my A to Z posts short and with punch
DeleteYour cards are so awesome. I know you described wink of stella, but I'm still not really getting it. Like lipstick, but glitter, and for cards instead of faces? Yep, I'm lost. I'll leave the card making to you.
ReplyDeleteHahahaaa. I need to take a picture of it and show what it looks like on my blog
DeleteYesterday was like a summer day here. We got hot on our walk. Today is cooler but still nice.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great day!
It was nice yesterday but it got quite windy and quite cold.
DeleteYour movie posts are never boring, Birgit. Some others bore me, but never yours. I'm looking forward.
ReplyDeleteBe well.
So glad you don't find my posts boring
DeleteYour cards are amazing. You're a wonderful artist. Movies are great. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know...I forgot and I will add it to your other list:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! The poinsettias look lovely. Thanks for joining us at CCT, April x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card, I love your poinsettia, and what patient fussy cutting! The richness of the colours is so Christmassy. Thank you for playing along with the Christmas Card Throwdown. Lucinda
ReplyDeleteWell done photographing your shiny green card, never an easy thing to do!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at the Alphabet Challenge. :)
Those cards are very pretty. The first one reminds me of some of the old Victorian Christmas cards you see.
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck with the A to Z Challenge this year. Like you I almost didn't take part but have jumped in at the last minute!

I think making cards is the perfect response to the weird weather. I do like the very elegant poinsettia. Thanks so much for playing along with our colour challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown. Deborah, DT.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, I love the green shimmery embossing on your second card! Thanks for joining us at Alphabet Challenge Blog.
ReplyDeleteTammy x
Not bored at all! I'll try to check in as much as I can in April. I'll be blogging regularly (and in town for almost the whole month, for a change) but I'm passing on the Challenge this year. *sniff*
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, as always.
I don't know that I'd ever get bored with movie talk. It's one of my favorite topics and as an A to Z theme I think it's great.
