The Letter X
X-MEN-2000
First there were the comic books, then an animated Cartoon which I enjoyed watching so it was inevitable that a live action film and this was a huge hit that produced many sequels. Good mutants fight the bad mutants who want to destroy the fearful regular humans.
A great cast led by Patrick Stewart, Ian McLellan with Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn and Halle Berry as mutants who must try to convince humans that they are not dangerous but they also fight amongst each other. It’s fun and well done and many men, boys and even some women were in ga-ga land with Rebecca Romijn who played Mystic, a blue mutant who had only her body with a few scales covering what needed to be covered. One day, Rebecca brought tequila to the set and many partook of the dangerous drink but enjoyed every moment. When Rebecca did a scene with Hugh Jackman, she threw up blue barf all over him because the blue stuff that was used to cover her body soaked into her skin..yikes!
Blah, that is quite the wake up call. Blue barf. That had to be a pain in the arse though, putting all that blue crap on. A grand one indeed.
ReplyDeleteHi, Birgit!
ReplyDeleteI watch several superhero series on the small screen and I also like Halle Berry. Surprisingly, even though I know about the X-Men series (there are 10 films in the series to date), I haven't seen any of them. I remember the alluring Rebecca Romijn-Stamos from her appearances on the TV sitcom Just Shoot Me. I read that Rebecca divorced John ("Blackie" from GH) Stamos in 2005 and is currently married to Jerry O'Connell, a busy actor who has appeared in numerous TV projects in recent years but can't seem to land a big hit.
Thanks for reminding me about a movie series that I need to investigate, dear friend BB. Have an X-tra special weekend!
I've seen most of the series and enjoyed them. Good choice.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen about half of the X-Men films, none of them when they came out. I remember the X-Men comics from the early '60s on (#5 was my first!), long before they were a top-seller for Marvel
ReplyDeleteI like the story about the blue barf, I bet Hugh was pleased!

You must have had one of the easiest X choices! It’s intriguing to see how others contort themselves to meet the challenge (I know - i’ve done it myself!)
ReplyDeleteGreat Way to pick an X film for today!
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen this, but it's a great choice (like you had a lot to choose from). I've mostly given up on superhero films. For me they've kind of hit the saturation point.

Oh Birgit - how horrible ... that thought ... but yes X-men was made for you - I've never seen the film though - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI actually saw this one in the theater. I'm not a really big X-Men fan, though. But the movie was entertaining.
ReplyDeleteBlue barf! That was one for the memory books. I am 3 for 3; I saw this one too. Dragged to go and see it with the family, but I do remember enjoying it somewhat.

I'm pleasantly surprised you went with this movie. It is a solid superhero flick. Never heard that story about Rebecca Romijn. Yeesh!
ReplyDeleteSeen it. A bit underwhelmed though. I wanted more Famke Janssen.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this one, but I love Patrick Stewart, so I don't know why I didn't watch it on TV.
ReplyDeleteBirgit,
ReplyDeleteWe liked the first X-Men movie and we may have watched the second one but since then we lost track of any newer ones. While I like comic book action heroes on the big screen, I wouldn't say it's my favorite genre. Thanks for sharing and for visiting, my friend. Have a good weekend!

I love your behind the scenes stuff, Birgit.
ReplyDeleteI do love the original X-men movie and I mostly enjoyed the sequel too, but not so much the third one. X-men First Class is my fav X-men movie to date.

I like the premise of the story, how their mutations show up at puberty and then the individual has to deal with it, the strength and the weakness of their unique power.
ReplyDeleteGreat story! I hadn't heard that one. I'm sure throwing up on Hugh was not a career highlight for her.
