Both of these stamps are at least 5 years old and I used these to make thank You cards for the people who contributed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Veteran's Affairs since my mom was a big supporter of the men who fought in any war. My mom's celebration of Life was really quite beautiful and I was so very happy with the turn out. My brother's boss was there with his wife throughout the whole service but my boss never even showed his sad face. For that I have not really spoken to him at all and will express my disappointment in the annual review. I feel I must tell him that his no show was dead wrong! He is retiring in July and has no care any more but that is no excuse in my book.
Anyhoo, I made 20 cards using these images to send to the people who gave or sent us flowers and to my dearest friends as well. They were stamped on basic white cardstock and coloured with prisma colours. I used the gamsol to blend the colours together, added the Thank You stamp which I embossed in silver pearl and added some stickles since my mom loved glitter just like me.
I found out from the others that my boss had his 45th or 50th wedding anniversary that day. My fellow co-workers(just 2 of them) thought I knew because he told them that he felt bad he couldn't go but he never said a thing to me! Yesterday, I told him what I found out and that I was sad and disappointed but now understand why he didn't attend. Mr. Emotion said he couldn't attend because of the anniversary and was looking down and said he would have been there. ...sigh. It was sticking in my craw so I had to speak up.
What a wonderful thing to do. And great to see you making your cards again.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful designs Birgit.....and a lovely idea to make them for your thank yous....xxxxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! Did your boss at least send a sympathy card? You would have thought he might have mentioned it sooner why he didn't attend or at least have someone else convey that information to you. I think I would have been a bit miffed myself.

The cards are lovely and sending them is a very nice gesture on your part.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, I particularly like the bottom one (iris?) I think that was a poor show on the part of your boss. He should have let you know and apologised in advance.
ReplyDeleteAs always, wonderfully done indeed. That is weird that he didn't at least tell you. But then some people don't do death well at all, so maybe he was avoiding it because of that too.

ReplyDeleteGood for you, Birgit. It's good to clear the air rather than brew something into resentment. I love your cards. Creating a thank you card must've been very healing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards for such an important cause! Your coloring is gorgeous! Thank you for playing with us at Retro Rubber and hope you will join us again soon.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are beautiful. I wouldn't want my boss to show up at anything private. Seeing him at work is sickening enough.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
You're really getting back into the swing of things with your cards!
ReplyDeleteI must agree with some of the previous comments. Your boss should have approached you first and explained his absence in advance, just as a courtesy.
I'm so glad you had a wonderful celebration of life for a wonderful person.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are, as usual, lovely.
Thinking of you today.
Hugs
These are beautiful cards! Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge.
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious blooms! Such lovely colouring and I like the clean composition of them that lets the flowers be the stars. I'm sorry they are for such a sad occasion. Thanks for sharing them with us at Retro Rubber Challenge.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Birgit, always nice to say thankyou any way you can.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more lovely cards, Birgit.
ReplyDeleteHope your week is fun and productive.
Hugs
That's a whole other level of thank you card when you make the cards yourself. So sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteYou're my favorite card factory.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and yellow flower petals.
Have a wonderfully peaceful week, Birgit.
Birgit,
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful 'Thank You' cards! I use Prismacolor pencils, as well. I also have used Stickles. I like adding shimmer to my cards, especially when I'm sending it to female friend or family member. Glitter makes everything purrrtier, right? These designs would make good birthday or get-well cards, too.
Hi, Birgit!
ReplyDeleteTurns out your boss had his reasons for not attending your mother's Celebration of Life. Nevertheless I agree that he should have approached you beforehand, told you about his other commitment and offered an apology.
The cards you created are beautiful and tasteful. I hope you found reason to smile through the pain you were surely experiencing this Mother's Day.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend BB!
Love the yellow and blue contrast. Your cards are always a delight.
ReplyDeleteHave a productive, feel good day, dear Birgit.
Hugs,
Gorgeous cards for such an important occasion, how wonderful you are contributing to this amazing cause.
ReplyDeleteLove this blooms that you colored beautifully.
Hugs.
Wow, Birgit! These are really special! Love the colors... I'm sure your mom would have loved them, too. You were right to speak up; your boss definitely should've said something to you beforehand. The anniversary celebration was a valid reason to not attend, but not to fail to mention it to you.
ReplyDeleteYour mom's celebration of life must have been beautiful. So glad you were surrounded by people you care for.

Sorry to hear about your mom, Birgit.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are beautiful.
To everyone here...A special thank you for your very kind words and, yes, I miss my mom and glad that Mother's day is over. yeah...my boss said nuttin and didn't apologize....that would be too painful for him. I'm glad everyone liked my cards. Oh Cathy...you would love Wink of Stella which is the name of these glitter brush pens. I have clear and gold but they come in a variety of colours.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss, Birgit. How thoughtful of you to make all these cards. I'm sure they will have special meaning to the recipients. Thanks for sharing them with us at Addicted to Stamps and More.
