I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas as I did. It was so very nice and I just felt so happy despite the earlier months. All I can say is I hope that this year will be better especially Covid wise. I thought I would showcase Kaspar the disaster this time. I hope you like these New Year songs.
1. HAPPY NEW YEAR BY ABBA-1980
I’m so glad I can fit ABBA in this with a perfect song to ring in the year. This comes from their album “Souper Trouper” and I think it’s just a nice one to choose.
2. LET’S START THE NEW YEAR RIGHT SUNG BY BING CROSBY-1942
This song is from the film, Holiday Inn written for the film by Irving Berlin and it just works so well. There are many songs that are great from this film including the famous “White Christmas” but this song is a good one for this time.
3. AULD LANG SYNE SUNG BY ACTORS FROM "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE-1946
This is an old folk Scots tune with lyrics written by Robert Burns and has been SUNG in many films, theaters, parties etc. . I think it was mostly played by Guy Lombardo and his orchestra. My dad loved this Canadian.
Any songs you wish to share for the new year? I do wish you all a great new year and this Covid will pass.
Hi, Birgit!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, dear friend!
Is that your kitty? Looks like Kaspar the Disaster is all tied up at the moment.
I'm happy that you are an ABBA lover rather than a hater. I have encountered a few. I admit the Swedish group is no match for Disco Tex And His Sex-O-Lettes, but they are still pretty good. I enjoyed their "Happy New Year" song and will also be posting it a few days from now in my New Year's two-parter.
"Let's Start The New Year Right" is new to me, a delightful holiday song, and The Binger was the perfect crooner to perform it. The crackling background sound of the worn 78 rpm record (I assume) only enhances the experience of listening to this old 1942 recording.
Who could remain dry-eyed watching that marvelous closing scene in It's A Wonderful Life? Shirley I can't. Your favorites and mine, Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, light up the screen. It's rare to find actors and actresses these days with that much class and charisma. Those two were the genuine article, the real deal, a joy to watch.
Thank you very much for your ongoing friendship and support through the challenging year 2021, dear BB. I am very happy to know that you came through your ordeals and can now put them behind you as we turn the page. May be all have a better year in '22! Enjoy your day, and I'll be back tamale with a box of Dots to join you in the balcony "At The Movies!"
Happy New Year, Birgit! So glad we made it through another year. Thank you for supporting my blog and keep up the great work on yours!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Birgit! We are all hoping that 2022 will be better than the last two. I'm glad you had a Happy Christmas, given the rough times you went through this year. I have a post coming up called Auld Lang Syne. That closing scene from It's a Wonderful Life is so poignant. Kaspar is a cutie; love the mustache! ☺
