There is Harley, Kaspar and hubby’s legs all vegging in front of the tele…they love their daddy-I love their daddy too. We have been having a curious bag of typical Canadian weather with a major storm every week that starts off as snow becoming freezing rain before venturing to rain before going back to snow, or it could be the other way around….who the hell cares! It’s March 1st and I say I am seeing the lion instead of the lamb. I am joining up again with the Monday Music Moves Me that I always check out at Curious As A Cathy, which is a great blog. Here are my festive choices.
1. HAZY SHADE OF WINTER SUNG BY SIMON AND GARFUNKEL-1966
I always liked this song by this great duo who don’t really like each other but, boy, can they harmonize so well. I know it should say “Snow” in the title but, I don’t like rules and winter is finally coming to visit in my neck of the woods.
2. COLD AS ICE SUNG BY FOREIGNER-1977
This was the first song that popped into my head and I remember when it came out enjoying the song knowing that it’s about a bad woman who took the man’s heart to the cleaners. I’m not sure what that says about my 14 year old self, but I loved this song and still do.
3. HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN SUNG BY THE EURYTHEMICS-1983
I love this group and have their greatest hits album because…I love their best hits which were many. I loved dancing to so many of their songs. This one was more just to listen to and watch their video which was…interesting.
What type of songs would you choose for your weather?
Hi, Birgit!
ReplyDeleteHappy March, dear friend! I'm sorry the new month came roaring in like a lion in your neck of the woods. We've been having day after day of sunshine with temps in the 80s (F). "Wish you were here." :)
Awww... I love that picture of my buddies Harley and Kaspar eyeing each other suspiciously as they catch an episode of Car 54, Where Are You? with your hubby. You can keep your hubby, but I want to raise Harley and Kaspar as my very own!
I like your Wednesday song picks. "Hazy Shade" is one of my favorite S&G songs. I also like the cover by The Bangles used in the soundtrack of the 1987 film Less Than Zero which has a dream cast of brat packers that includes Andrew McCarthy, Jami Gertz, Robert Downey Jr. and James Spader.
I think Foreigner songs have aged splendidly. Do you agree? I like all of their hits, and "Cold As Ice" is one of their very best. Luckily for us, most if not all of their catalog has been nicely remastered in recent years.
That video for "Here Comes The Rain Again" by Annie and her synth-pop band The Eurythmics was played heavily by the veejays at the MTV station where I worked in the 80s.
For your weather, I could offer a song title similar to your third: "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" by the English beat group The Fortunes, a record that brushed the top 10 in Canada in 1971.
For my weather, I'm feelin' "Hot Hot Hot" (Arrow/r Buster Poindexter) and "Crazy From the Heat" (title of a 1985 EP by Diamond David Lee Roth). It's "Sunny" (Bobby Hebb) "Eight Days A Week" (Beatles). That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.
Thanks for the morning music and fun, dear friend BB. I'll be back to see you tamale, sitting in the balcony-- "At the Movies!"
I love your choices and can just dance to hot, hot, hot. As well as the others. I’m happy your enjoyed my choices and Harley is sleeping next to me snoring away. Friday the weather was crazy…it was snowing when we went into the grocery, came out and it was sleet followed by rain. When we came out of another store it was huge flake smacking you in the face. Crazy!
DeleteThey are certainly keeping your husband warm.
ReplyDeleteCold as Ice - one of Foreigner's first hits.
They are so good. I like Foreigner and yes, they keep him warm

ReplyDeleteHi Birgit, love the family photo! ☺ Our weather sure has been nuts, but today is somewhat lamb-like, here. At least it's above zero and neither snowing nor raining. Small favours! I enjoyed all of your weather-related tunes this morning. I did a post once, entitled Songs About Winter which included the Simon & Garfunkel tune.
ReplyDeleteThanks for voting on my BOTB! I've fixed the mobile view, so it should display correctly now. Please let me know if it looks okay.
It looks good to me. The weather is crazy! Snow, sleet, rain and back to snow in the span of a half hour. I think you got more snow. I’m glad you like my picks and I knew I heard the S & G song from someplace here and now I know where.
DeleteWhat a fabulous photo of your family. I love all three of these songs. They all speak to me.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like my photo and the songs
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your family, even if it was only your hubbie's legs. f I had to pick a theme song for our winters in the Southern Tier of New York, I would pick "California Dreaming" by the Mamas and Papas. Brown leaves on the oaks that stay on all winter, perpetual grey skies, describes us perfectly. I am a big Simon and Garfunkel fan and love Hazy Shade of Winter, and that would fit, too.
ReplyDeleteThat’s so sweet..my family including hubby’s legs. Love the Mama’s and the Papa’s
DeleteI like all of these. The photo of domestic bliss is great!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you like the music and the music
