Well, you got me on that one. Do not think I ever heard her name or if I did I can make no connection even though I have seen some of her films. Glad I met you through your blog. I look forward to your future posts.
ReplyDeleteYes she is not a common actress to know. I am glad I found you too and I can't believe I did it!
DeleteI have enjoyed your theme for this A-Z odyssey and look forward to keeping up with your blog in the future! All those wonderful photos, I love the style. But, your added information (which was very interesting) showed old stars could be just as screwed up as many people are now. Maybe things don't change as much as we think.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, congratulations on a wonderful job :-)
Thank you so much! They are people just like us but with more money and every one know who they are. Thanks again!
DeleteBirgit - you have entertained us with the most wonderful posts - all the memorable stars of the Silver Screen who should never be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteIt's been great to have met you, and I'm sure we'll keep in touch.
Time for celebrations - we are survivors. Congratulations.
Thank you! My first A to Z and I am already thinking about next year-lol I need some sleep first:) We will keep in touch-I missed last months Insecure Writers support group. Even though I am not a writer I still join and give thoughts:)
DeleteCongratulations on making it to "Zed!" Loved your posts and checking out old-timey Hollywood. I've got a lot of movies to go catch up on...
ReplyDeletehahahaha yes Zed it is! Thanks and yours was fun. Now on to watching movies
DeleteI've haven't heard of this lady but how cute that she slept with her ballet shoes. I'm always in awe of dancers because I am the biggest klutz on the planet LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I met you this month! It's been a fun challenge. :)
It has been fun and I thought it was sweet that she slept with her shoes and she was wonderful as a dancer
DeleteShe was beautiful. I'd never heard of her before today. Lots of strange behavior going on in H'wood back then!
ReplyDeleteOh Hopllywood has been and is strange. She is beautiful
DeleteShe's lovely. I love those old B&W studio glamor pictures. They're so romantic. I really enjoyed your A-Z, Birgit. You did a great job! Congrats on finishing! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I had fun and this was my first. I always wished one of these old time great photographers would do one of me-secret wish but they are all dead as far as i know-lol
DeleteGod, she was gorgeous! I'd never heard of her, either, but she looks stunning in that picture. I can see why Mr Balanchine (and his wife?) was so taken by her.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the challenge!! It's been so fun to learn about these celebrities all month. I'll be back around for sure :)
Thank you and love your blog as well. She was a stunner and very few people know of her but her dancing is superb
DeleteA beautiful (if unheard of - by me) star to end with. We made it! Thanks for the company on the ride. I'll still be following my A-Z chums.
ReplyDeleteAnabel at Anabel's Travel Blog
She is not a major star but a good way to end the Z. yes we made it and i will be seeing you too
DeleteSo, maybe I'm just over tired, but was she married three times to the same guy, or was George just the last and final hubby?
ReplyDeleteGlad we made it through the challenge. And just think how much smarter we are now. Congrats to us! Oh, and I loved the story scenario you put in the comments on my blog. Thank you so much!
Deb@ http://debioneille.blogspot.com
Oh she was married 3 times and her 2nd was to George Balachine. I only placed in people who were also famous when the stars were married to them. yes we made and thank you-I love your different ways of story telling with one word. It was fun!
DeleteIt's kind of tragic, you know? Makes you wonder if she hadn't gone into dancing, what kind of life would she have lived?
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes from A to Z
I think she lived and breathed dancing. She would have been in dancing no matter what but she was so beautiful and it was the time of the great musicals so i think she just dabbled more in films than became a true star
DeleteCongratulations Birgit for completing the challenge! And what entertaining and informative posts you have shared with us throughout this month. I need to catch up with some of the earlier ones I missed....take care! And hope to see you around in the blogosphere beyond this challenge too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you-I loved your posts as they really made me think-I could see the smoke coming out of my ears. We did make it and it was fun!
DeleteLovely lady. First time I'd heard of her.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing the Challenge!
She was beautiful and a great dancer. Thanks Alex-it was alot of fun and i appreciate the gentle push from you when I kept mentioning it
DeleteDo not remember her but would like to have seen her dance. I wonder if her movies are still available. Good finish on the A-Z!! You can take a long 'deserved' rest :) All the best.
ReplyDeleteShells–Tales–Sails
I believe there are some one can still get but probably have to order them and maybe the best to see her dance is on you Tube-It seems everything is on there now. Thank you for your kind words. I loved your blog and will try that recipe this weekend
DeleteI've heard of her but never saw her movies. Dancers are so athletic. I've enjoyed your posts through out the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you and she is an amazing dancer. They are athletic and so disciplined. You have to love the art of the dance to be able to want to do this as a profession. Thank you:)
DeleteAnother one that I have never heard of, but gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWTG on finishing the challenge! Enjoyed reading your theme, very nicely done! Will be keeping up with you after the challenge too and I'm going back to my usual weekly to 10 day posting on my blog; always seeming to enjoy reading more than writing :)
betty

She did look the star and thanks-same for your blog-great blog you have!
DeleteYou stumped with this one, Birgit. :-) If they wanted to do a movie on her, Uma Thurman could play her based on looks.
ReplyDeleteSo, here we are the end of the challenge. Congrats! I toast my bowl of ice cream to you. :-)
It must be the northern European look:) Yes we made it and I shall take the ice cream as long as it is chocolate:)
DeleteI'm sad to see the end of your A to Z. It's been so much fun looking through all these old Hollywood stars.
ReplyDeleteIt has been fun and I loved reading about the fairy tales-love them!
DeleteLover Come Back? That's not the Doris Day one, is it? I have never seen her before. (I guess I need to start watching TCM some more.)
ReplyDeleteLiz A. from Laws of Gravity
As far as I know-nope! I shall double check but I think her career was done by the time Doris came into stardom
DeleteHey, you made it all the way to Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!! Way to go! Vera Zorina is great with Bob Hope in Louisiana Purchase. It's been good A to Z-ing with you.
ReplyDeleteSee ya 'round the web.
