Some cards I made..What a boring title

Yeah...when it comes to titles, I suck. I have been creating some cards and am happy to show a few here including a Christmas card since it is chilly in my neck of the woods. I am so behind in Christmas cards so I have to get my ass in gear and make some more. We have our Annual General Meeting and my E.D. asked if I could make a couple of Thank-You cards for a board member that is stepping down and a staff member who has been here for 10 years(none of us leave..I have been here for 28 years come May 27th!). Today is the anniversary of my Daddy's passing, from brain cancer, back  in 1988-31 years ago...freaky!I will light a candle for him.

OK on with the show...

Embossed folder, new crayon style paints(sorry forgot the name), water, tombow markers, wink of stella(glitter pen brush)-clear and gold, silver stickles, glitter, glue pen

Crafty Creations-Always Anything Goes
CHNC Christmas Challenge-Anything Goes with option-for a child

This is an embossing folder I recently bought when I gorged my eyes and emptied my pockets in a stamp store I visited. I painted with colours from a new set I bought from there as well (40% off!). I stamped the town scene and coloured it with tombow markers, fussycut around the embossed leaves and swirly look, and adhered it together onto a silver glitter cardstock. I added more glitter, basically everywhere, and used silver stickles to edge the inside border around the town. As you can tell, I just went with the Anything Goes part as I don't know any children.

colour bursts, water, crystals, left over pieces, border stickers and flower stickers, Letter cuts, sizzex machine.

Cute Card Thursday-Add Sequins, Brads or Gems
Penny Black & More-Spring in Full Swing
Stamplorations-Theme & Sketch (theme-Watercolour)

This is fun and bright! I have these slips of paper floating around from trying out colours from the colour bursts. They come in little plastic bottles that look like Dristan nose sprays..but you don't want to sniff this up your nose:). You have a variety of colours and you just tap out a few specks onto white paper, add water and watch it come alive! You can dry it and add more for further depth..lots of fun! I had this extra paper with colour dabbed on and decided to take the sticker flowers and place it on this paper and fussy cut it out and adhered it with glue.

scrap paper, pearl powders, gold stickers.

Of course, this is for the man on our board who is stepping down and it is a quickie card but I think it came out aok. I had this scrap card with these powders on it set aside for a few years and decided to finally use it. I added the red cardstock to it and placed it on the black cardstock. I took gold letters to make the Thank you and added more stickers for the design.

Cuddelbug, sizzex machine, embossing folder and border cuts. beehive stamp and letter stickers, scissors., Gamsol pencils, black dye ink,

Simon Says-Anything Goes
Sparkles Monthly Challenge-Flowers or Religious

I put the embossing folder with the dark yellow card piece through the cuddlebug and glued it into place. I took other yellow cardstock and ran that through the sizzex machine 4 times to cut out the 4 borders. I stamped the beehive stamp and coloured it with my gamsol pencils and fussy-cut it out. This is for our Educational Co-ordinator who keeps bees so I thought this would work.

I have been a bzzzzzy bee..nyuck, nyuck.

  1. Those are really nice. The thank you card is perfect.

  2. I think the second card is my favorite.

I suck at titles, too. What you need is an evergreen title for these, something along the lines of Card Collection (I'm sure you can come up with something much better), and then you just number them. So, this would be CC #1. Then CC #2. And over time, you'll soon learn how many card posts you've done (which is a nice stat to have).

  3. Hi, Birgit!

I am sorry you are observing the sad anniversary of your daddy's death more than three decades ago. It's laudable that you choose to remember him by lighting a candle.

I like your Christmas card, and that reminds me that I would like to be the first to wish you a happy Easter (2020). :) All of your card creations are pretty, but my top favorite is the second one, the card that simply reads "hi." The shades of yellow, green and blue look terrific together. It's a wonderful composition!

Thanks for reading and commenting on my last three posts today. Kathleen Mae Schneider will be along a.s.a.p. to reply to your generous comment on her mother Margaret's birthday post. Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend BB!

  6. A real bumper post of pretty cards, it's so nice to have you join in with our 'Spring' theme at Penny Black and More challenge, but we are a stamping challenge and there doesn't seem to be any of the card you linked.

  7. I was very impressed by all your beautiful cards. It just goes to show how much I need a cutting and embossing machine. You made some gems. I think my favorite was the Christmas card, but I really LOVED the Thank you card, too.

Sorry to read about your dad. Some wounds never heal and some hearts never mend.

  12. Your attention to detail should be enough to get your cards mass produced and selling in the stores. For that to happen, I'm guessing now but your current cards used as templates would be enough to make a convincing sales pitch to a printing company.

  15. Hi Birgit, Very nice post, most informative and quite fascinating to see how talented you are, I'm presuming you have a room dedicated to your art form, somewhere where you you can leave things over night to dry.
The Thank you card is one I would give to a senior male member at retirement, very nice indeed.
The way you ended with buzzzy bee was very cool and made me realize you do really miss the challenge this year. Oh well, there is always next year. :)
Blessings from a very buzzzy Geoff.

  16. Birgit,

The Christmas card is gorgeous! I have a snowy village stamp very similar to yours. I'm not sure if I've used it or not...must look into that. The embellishment around the village scene has a 3D effect - very cool! The honeybee Thank you card is so cute! You do such good work on your greeting cards. I haven't done any stamping in a long time!

    1. Yes, that is the embossing which creates the 3D effect. Thanks for all the praise on my cards...I’m glad you like them

  17. Lovely cards, Birgit! I especially like the black, red and gold Thank You card. You obviously lucked out in the job department. It's rare that people stay with one employer for so long, these days.

  18. I was going to comment on how professional your cards always look, but then I realized that might be damning them with faint praise. They actually look better than so-called "store-bought" offerings, sucky title notwithstanding. (Hey, those are your words...!)
