Great gal! One of the boys but beautiful and down to earth. a quick wit who was a pleasure to work with. had a son who loves her deeply and had a great home life. I know! From Hollywood?? It's true though. She often gave to charity and when she was struck with arthritis helped with that and there is a hospital in her name dedicated to arthritis and trying to cure it. She was equally famous in theatre as well.

Brilliant! One who seems like a good and honourable person.

DeleteShe is an actress that I always thought of as being 'larger than life', but I think it is because of the roles she played. Now I know she was a super person in real life. Never heard that.

DeleteI thought she embodied Auntie Mame. I'd read the story before I saw the movie and was impressed by how Russell brought her to life. She was also great as Rose in Gypsy. Couldn't stand that mom! But, the Russell would show the mom's vulnerabilities and I think okay, then voila, Russell pulls out the mom I couldn't stand again. Now, that's acting.

DeleteShe was beautiful; it is refreshing to hear of a marriage that was happy and endured in Hollywood! While I know there are many more out there that have survived and done well, we only seem to hear of the ones that end up broken.

DeleteI particularly liked her in The Trouble With Angels and Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows. After seeing her in those, her happy home life doesn't surprise me.
