I remember seeing The Uninvited and then getting the book from the library so I could read it. As a teen, I loved ghost stories. I especially love the theme song! So haunting. Under the Tuscan Sun gets a mention from me today in my U post. Love the recipes in it.
ReplyDeleteI love ghost stories as well and not gory ones. I Am behind so I want to read your post
DeleteSounds like two vastly different films here. Again, I haven't seen, and for the first time, I don't think I even know the people in the films. The closest person I know is Albert from Little House on the Prairie.
ReplyDeleteRay Milland is pretty famous..he was in Dial M for Murder and The Lost Weekend. Diane Lane has been quite a few films that I'm certain you have seen and she was married to Josh Brolin for a few years. Sandra Oh was in Grey's Anatomy I think
DeleteI haven't seen either of these - but as I'm not too good with horror, I'd plump for Under the Tuscan Sun. :)

This horror film is tame and actually quite intelligent so I would give it a shot. I would love to be in Tuscany right now

Wasn't there a modern version of The Uninvited?
ReplyDeleteI believe there was but its not nearly as good as this one...in my mind any ways
DeleteHi, Birgit!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember watching The Uninvited but it seems like my kind of picture. The plot summary reminds me a little of The Amazing Mr. X (1948) starring Cathy O'Donnell, one of my favorite actresses. I have always admired the work of Ray Milland. I think Diane Lane is a wonderful actress and I have seen Under the Tuscan Sun. Her movie Unfaithful, with Richare Gere, would have been another good choice for U-day.
Thank you, dear friend BB!
I'm surprised you have seen The Uninvited. It's so sad to see Gail Russell who I don't think should ever have been in movies. I'm savings Unfaithful for later in the week:)
DeleteHaven't seen The Uninvited, bit Under the Tuscan Sun is just too cute a movie to resist. It's not great, but pretty enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteUnder the Tuscan Dun is a movie I can watch again and again. It's not a great film but it's a good movie and one I can disappear in.
DeleteI didn't see the first movie, and I am not sure about Under the Tuscan Sun. Don't think so. Sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteIt's really good and just so enjoyable to watch
DeleteI like Lindsay Duncan and Sandra Oh will always be Cristina from Grey's Anatomy to me (though I first saw her in Sideways which I enjoyed), so I'm surprised I've not even heard of thus film. I'm taking a wild guess ;-) that tomorrow has to feature Vertigo.

I think you will enjoy Under the Tuscan Sun and Sandra Oh is in it more than I thought she would be. No comment on what is for V:)
DeleteI think the Uninvited would scare me and keep me up at night. I would enjoy the other one though!
ReplyDeletebetty
The Uninvited is intelligently done and even has some humour. If I can watch it, I bet you could as I don't like gore or scare for scare's sake. Under the Tuscan Sun is so delightful to watch.
DeleteI've not seen either of these but a bit of Tuscany sounds appealing :)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and enchanting and I often dream of doing the same thing.
DeleteI enjoyed Under the Tuscan Sun. It was adventurous and fun and set in Italy! What's not to like?
ReplyDeleteI agree! Love and wish could be there
Delete0 for 2 this time. I think I've seen parts of the 2nd on TV though.
ReplyDeleteBoth both are great and the 2nd is great to see and dream
DeleteOh... Vertigo? I've seen Under the Tuscan Sun, but not The Uninvited. I like the actors, but I'm not into the creepy.
ReplyDeleteNo comment:) the first is creepy but intelligently done and just love the 2nd.
DeleteI think I've seen Under the Tuscan Sun but I don't remember it very well.
ReplyDeleteI love this movie especially just the town and the home....I can dream.
DeleteI love a good scary tale -- as opposed to a gory mess that masquerades as a story.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see either of these.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, Birgit.

ReplyDeleteI saw Under the Tuscan Sun! I recently read it and was surprised at how different it was from the movie (she was married in the book and renovated the house with her husband). Both the book and the movie definitely made me want to visit Italy. I would love to see The Uninvited! Thanks for sharing. :)

I love Under the Tuscan Sun. We saw it not long after my daughter first visited Italy. She kept poking me to say, I've been there!
ReplyDeleteI have not been there. I'm grateful my children have had experiences that I couldn't attain.
Love,
Janie
I haven't seen The Uninvited but it looks interesting. Loved Under the Tuscan Sun! Diane Lane is a favourite actress and anything to do with Italy will always attract me. ☺

ReplyDeleteNeat films
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing trailers for Under the Tuscan Sun when it came out and I loved the scenery!
ReplyDeleteNope, have not seen either. Under the Tuscan Sun makes a good title for a novel. Setting in Italy sounds fabulous
