Mock Squid Soup Film Society-3 Clues!
I can't believe it is December. In my neck of the woods it has not been that cold and that's a bummer. I like a nice snowy day to put me in the Christmas spirit. I also wish to apologize to all my blogger friends whom I usually visit. I have been busy at work and at home. With Christmas approaching I am finding it tough to get to everyone's blogs and I feel bad about that. I hope to make it up in time.
Ok, over at Mock and The Armchair Squid, they have a monthly film society where a film is picked to review. This time, once again, we pick our own film and for this post we offer 3 clues. Next Friday the film will be revealed. Let's see if you guess the film I picked for this month. Venture over to see the other bloggers' clues.
here we go...
1. When I saw this film, it made me dream of going to Budapest (I did end up going!)
2. It won awards but one star broke his
3. It co-stars a famous mezzo soprano
Can you guess??

Amadeus?
ReplyDeleteNope! Nice try though:)
DeleteMan, you're pitching a no-hitter! OK, second guess: Evita, filmed in Budapest. Madonna is the mezzo.
DeleteIs the mezzo-soprano Jeanette MacDonald? I don't know the film, but the clues made me think of her.
ReplyDeleteNope not Jeanette but good guess
DeleteI was gonna guess Village of the Giants but now I'm having second thoughts. :)
ReplyDeleteHahahaaaa-I think you are still thinking of bodacious ta-ta's:)
DeleteUmm Evita? Was that even made there? Only one besides Amadeus that popped in
ReplyDeleteNope-she was still alive when this movie was made.
DeleteIs it "The Grand Budapest Hotel?"
ReplyDeleteNope it is an oldie but a goodie!
DeleteI have the same guess as Stephen.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Nope! Old movie with a spice of Christmas in it
DeleteJailhouse Rock :) just kidding. I have no idea.

Beatsme. This must've been one awesome movie that it inspired you to go to Budapest.
ReplyDeleteI've been lagging too at visiting. Also, responding to comments on my posts. It happens. We eventually catch up. Hugs to ya.
DeleteAgain clueless but sounds intriguing :) I heard on the radio last night Buffalo New York set a record on lack of snowfall this year; good but bad I guess? Maybe you'll have a white Christmas :)
ReplyDeletebetty
We so rarely have a white Christmas which is a bummer. We did have one 2 yrs ago which was so pretty. I remember the one year, it was crisp and snowy from the beginning of December to 3 days before Christmas Eve. It suddenly got very warm and rained and by Christmas there was no snow left! That was just cruel:) I can recall that year, my mom and I went to a beautiful town near us, Niagara On The Lake. It was nice and cold and snow everywhere, the Christmas music was piped onto the streets-it was magic especially since I shared it with my mom
DeleteI have no idea, but I'm so impressed that you went to Budapest. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a safe, warm-loving holiday time, Birgit.
Yes I went when I was 18 and the Iron Curtain was still up. Budapest is a beautiful city and let's just say I had an eye opening event happen to me when I was in no man's land waiting for them to clear our bus
DeleteLet's see..."Fargo" is out. Okay, I give up.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the cold in December. It's SUPPOSED to be cold in December. It's also supposed to be cold in January and February, too. But, the heck with that!
Fargo is a guess:) It's not the right one but it is a guess. I am wanting snow!
DeleteI'm used to reading the comments and someone having guessed it correctly already. Or giving me a helpful clue. Nope, neither of those. I have no idea. But a trip to Budapest, now that I want to hear about.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great trip for 4 days when I was 18.
DeleteHi Birgit. Don't stress with blog visiting. Just relax and enjoy as much of the holidays as you are able to, with family & work. Big hugs & thanks when you can visit. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am doing my best:)
DeleteSorry I'm so late. I get the blog thing too, obviously.
ReplyDeleteI, along with everyone else, am clueless and intrigued. I can't wait to see your review.
Yes and I know I was very vague with my clues
DeleteClueless...Oh, not the movie, me. grin.
ReplyDeleteHahahaaaa-I can join you, in general I am clueless:)
DeleteHmm. Now if you'd said it made you want to go to Istanbul, I'd have guessed it straight away!
ReplyDeleteI decided to be very vague
DeleteYou went to Budapest? One of these days, you are going to have share detes with us.
ReplyDeleteI did go, many years ago when I was 18
DeleteI was all set to go with the Grand Budapest Hotel except now I'm scratching my empty nogin, I'm feel clueless, lol.
ReplyDeleteNope it is not the Grand Budapest hotel and I know I was vague
DeleteI was going to guess The Grand Budapest Hotel as well but saw you said "no" to that one. I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteNope not the one
DeleteI was going to guess The Grand Budapest Hotel as well but saw you said "no" to that one. I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteWe've had snow too, kind of surprising where I live, but I do love it, and of course you have to have snow for Christmas. I have no idea about the movie but like the setting.
ReplyDeleteIt was almost beach weather today!
DeleteWow, I have no idea what that film might be.
ReplyDeleteBut we have snow over here. If you like, I can send you some.
Merry Christmas, Birgit!
Hahaha-please! I want snow!
DeleteDarn! I thought it was the Grand Budapest Hotel also!
ReplyDeleteNope although I will talk about it tomorrow
DeleteJust stopped by to say hey. Hope you've had an excellent day and are enjoying your evening.
ReplyDeleteI am and having a great day
DeleteI couldn't for the love of me guess what it is.
ReplyDeleteNo clue. I'm terrible at these kind of guessing games anyway, but I bet my hubby would have the answer.
ReplyDeleteUm, I have no clue. And it's tougher to visit blogs as the holidays approach. Plus, a lot of people go on blog hiatuses for the holidays. We can come back stronger in January. :)
ReplyDeletethe first film that came to my mind was The Grand Budapest Hotel. I haven't seen it and don't know much about it, but I put on my Netflix list and keep putting other films over it.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that this is the film--I'm thinking you're going back to an older film, but I have no idea. Now I'm going to look at the other comments to see what other guesses are.
