Thursday Movie Picks: TV Edition-Non-English

Ughh...not liking this theme, to be frank as I have no clue...sorry. I will check out Wandering Through The Shelves to see what everyone else has chosen and, I bet, there will be a lot of Japanese anime, Just so you know. Hubby has had his 2 operations and is now resting as best as he can. On Monday he gets the sting removed, the next day I go for my pre-op and then comes mine. Anyhoo, I had fun this week with my own twist on this theme...

1 "FRIENDS" (1994-2004) IN GERMAN

2. "FRIENDS" IN ITALIAN

3. "FRIENDS" IN FRENCH

When I was in Europe some shows came on, dubbed, in the language of the country we were in, and it was always fun watching these shows. My favourite was watching Bonanza in German which is a hoot which is why Benny Hill parodied it so well. Unfortunately, I can't find it on Youtube but it is hilarious. ("Was Ist Los, Pa" Hoss (Benny) speaking to Ben Cartwright).

So, tell me, which language (not English) would you prefer to listen to when watching Friends?

Weekly Song Challenge

I know, I'm late again but I have to contact Employment Insurance, the plumbers, I saw a friend, which was really nice, take care of my husband who was dealing with the pain from his kidney stone surgery, talk to a nurse for my own pre-op and bring my husband for his hernia surgery which was yesterday. His surgery went well and he is now convalescing. It is very difficult to keep a man with severe ADHD from doing anything. I have to write these up way ahead of time and I plan on doing that. Now on with the show..er...music.

Jingle, Jangle, Jungle has given us 3 more themes to find some great music.

A SONG WITH PLEASE IN THE TITLE

A PROTEST SONG

A SONG WITH FALL IN THE TITLE

1. PLEASE, PLEASE ME SUNG BY THE BEATLES-1963

Of course, this was the first song that came into my head and it's a good early song by the Beatles who became a huge sensation around this time before coming to North America. I believe this was the name of their first album, but correct me if I am wrong.

2. THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND SUNG BY PETER, PAUL AND MARY-1963

This is the version I first heard from this great trio who harmonize so well. It was written by Woody Guthrie back in 1940 because he was sick of hearing Kate Smith belt out "America The Beautiful." Obviously this song got a life of its own as it was written just before the States entered WW2 plus had just been through the great depression so Woody, seeing the plight of the average Joe and Joanie, decided to make his own mark.

3. LET'S DO IT, LET'S FALL IN LOVE SUNG BY PEGGY LEE-1941

I know, it does not start with "birds do it" or "Bees do it" but the original, very offensive lyrics at the beginning at a time when it was thought it was OK to say these words. Take it as a history lesson and realize Peggy Lee and many others would be offended by the lyrics later...hell, I bet Cole Porter, who wrote the song, would have liked the changes done later. I know it more with the birds and bees but I am a stickler for history, good and bad...and this is bad but I hate censorship because, how can we learn what is right and what is wrong if we censor? Porter wrote this song in 1928 for the Broadway hit called "Paris". It has been sung by many, many others over the years but I like Peggy Lee's performance.

Sorry, again, for being late. Which songs come to your mind?

Thursday Movie Picks-Femme Fatales

Hi Everyone, I was late with my music post yesterday because I am lost and a bit down. I read all your posts last week and my heart brims with the concern, comments and uplifting comments you all gave. I can't retire because I am not getting a ton of money. 2 years ago, I had to be "laid off" from my Regional Niagara job so I could be hired by the Toronto agency. At that time, I thought I would get a large amount only to find out that, since they are a non profit agency, there was a cap so I got the same as everyone else(2 others). I am getting almost the same amount as I got 2 years ago and with the surgeries coming up, especially mine, I just signed the forms. Anger and resentment does not help in any situation especially ones' own health. If my hubby could work and was not on a pension, I was not going for surgery, I may have fought for more but, in the end, after speaking to a lawyer, the cost of the lawyer would take the bulk of it so...I need to move forward.

Oh, hubby had his kidney stone operation and he is good. When he pees it feels like glass shards but that is lessening plus he is relaxing and resting! Next Tuesday is his hernia operation... also day surgery(wow!) and I know he will be more incapacitated with this one. Now let's talk movies...

This is another biggie because there are loads of Femme Fatales out there (Actually my Gun Crazy gal, Peggy Cummins would have been perfect as a Femme Fatale). I had a tough time choosing 3 so it will be interesting what Wandering Through The Shelves, the guru,  and everyone else will pick. Here are my 3...

1. SCARLET STREET-1945

Joan Bennett played the Femme Fatale in a unique way, she never portrayed herself as a true lady but as the slovenly, high-maintenance broad that the poor helpless hack, played by Edward G Robinson, falls in love with. He has worked as a trusted bank clerk for over 25 years receiving a nice banquet and watch from his employers and employees before running into this sexy bitch. He is nagged and unloved by his wife, but his one escape is his painting. He paints at the apartment he sets up for Miss. Priss and when someone sees the painting, her real boyfriend, says that Kitty painted it. Sad Sack Robinson goes along with it but how long can this go on? Fritz lang(The director) paints(hahahaa) a great film forever changing Ms. Bennett's acting from blonde innocent to the exact opposite. Poor Joan was in a major scandal herself when her director/producer husband, Walter Wanger, shot her agent, Jennings Lang, in the nuts because he thought they were having an affair. Her career was really hurt by this unfortunately.

2. THE KILLERS-1946

Who could stay away from Ava Gardener? Talk about a Femme Fatale who drove her husband, Frank Sinatra, to try to commit suicide to having many lovers including Howard Hughes and many Spanish matadors. She was a free spirit and she is one of my favs to be honest. Ok, on to the movie...this is the film debut of Burt Lancaster who is known as The Swede, an ex-boxer, who gets embroiled in the double dealings of mob people and, yes, good ole Ava. Gosh, her name is also "Kitty" and, when Burt sees her, thinking with the wrong head, promptly dumps his good girlfriend to hook up with this cooing meanie in a sleek black satin dress. No film Noir would be right without plot twists galore. It is taught, well acted and established Lancaster as a major actor. Well worth seeing and one that Ernest Hemingway, who wrote the short story,  was quite happy with. He generally hated the Hollywood interpretations of his written works but he loved Ava Gardner and found her the perfect Hemingway heroine.

3. OUT OF THE PAST-1947

There was a remake done in the 1980s with Jeff Bridges, James Woods and Rachel Ward called, "Against All Odds"..forget that one (except the song is good by Phil Collins..not my fav, but good) and stick with this original. Jane Greer plays the Femme Fatale (she was in the remake too but not the Femme Fatale as that would be too weird). Robert Mitchum plays the sad sack who has started over in a small town and has a wonderful girlfriend but his past comes out and he explains, in a backstory, what went on in his life. He was asked to find this rich dude's girlfriend. The rich dude is Kirk Douglas in only his second film and was not well known. of course, this bad gal makes Mitchum's head do a double take (think which head I am talking about) and he goes with her, the money she stole and double crosses her boyfriend. Now cut to present day, Mitchum knows he is going into a trap, but he must see things through. This is a great Noir film with many twists and turns leaving you wanting more. It is well worth a look.

Which Femme Fatale films would you choose and for fun...whom would you abscond with (if you had no loving wife/girlfriend with you). Hey even the women can get in on this. I would choose Ava.

                                                         Joan Bennett

Ava Gardner

Jane Greer

Weekly Song Challenge..I'm late

Forgive me that I am late here, I have been feeling quite lost and down due to my job loss. The good news is that hubby's first operation, yesterday, for the kidney stone, went well. They went up his, well...you know, and like Mark Hamill destroying the death star, the doc laser blasted the big kidney stone. Now, he is resting which is good. On to music...Jingle, Jangle, Jungle has 3 more themes and here they are..

A SONG WITH ANGEL IN THE TITLE

A SONG WITH DOG IN THE TITLE

A SONG WITH STAND IN THE TITLE

1. ANGEL OF THE MORNING SUNG BY JUICE NEWTON-1981

When this song came out, I just fell in love with it and would listen to it every chance I got. I was already driving by then so, if it came on the radio, I had to listen to it even if I was late for school (big whoop). I had no idea this song was written in 1967 by Chip Taylor after he heard "Ruby Tuesday" by The Rolling Stones. It has been recorded by many others over the years but this is still my favourite version.

2. HOW MUCH IS THAT DOGGIE IN THE WINDOW SUNG BY PATTI PAGE-1953

This popped into my head because of my daddy. Daddy loved this song and would look at me and sing the title and then do a couple of barks followed by laughter. I laughed when I was a kid, when I was a teenager I smiled but had to roll my eyes only later to sing the same part to my dad when he had his brain tumour operation. We both would smile after. This song was written by Bob Merrill in 1952 with Patti Page making it famous  in 1953. Later, the rights were sold to the Humane Society and Patti Page sang the same song but in a sad bent due to the horrible puppy mills that are everywhere. I prefer this sweet version.

3. STAND BY ME BY BEN E. KING-1961

This song came out in 1961. the year my brother was born and, I can say, without question, he is standing by me. He sent me flowers last week which deeply touched my heart and they still look beautiful. This song was written by Ben along with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. There have been tons of others who have recorded their own versions, but my heart belongs to this original.

Finally, I got this out and sorry for the delay. Which 3 would you pick?

Thursday Movie Picks-Outlaws

Guess what? Yesterday, at 1pm, I had a zoom meeting where I was told that due to restructuring, they must let me go from my employment! I am given a severance package but, due to less people going on our payment program thereby losing money, they have no choice but to let me go. I have been with Credit Counselling since May 27, 1991...over 30 years so this came as a complete and utter shock. I did a write up about more shit that has happened to me  as of late (Wrote that this past Tuesday) so I am just about done with bad news now. I need a break. I hope they do not find any cancer at all when I have my hysterectomy on Oct. 12th. I can't grasp my mind around everything but I thought I would let you know. Now on to better things...

I had no idea in which direction I Wanted to go...westerns, hoodlums...politicians(yuck, nyuck) but I do hope you like my theme within a theme. Check out Wandering Through The Shelves to see what everyone else has chosen...here are my 3 plus 1...

1. GUN CRAZY-1950

This is considered a B picture but it is a real gem. A young boy ends up in juvenile jail due to a botched robbery but has the support of his 2 best friends and his family. When he comes out, his fr8ends take him to a travelling amusement park where he meets crack shot Annie, a beautiful but nasty gal. He is a crack shot himself and quickly is hired to tour with the troupe. Of course the 2 fall in love and, after being fired by the boss, she  urges him to hold up banks or else she will leave him. What’s a guy to do but agree with his nasty gal. Well acted and an excellent story by blacklisted Dalton Trumbo.

2. BADLANDS-1973

Sissy Spacek, in her 2nd film, plays a naive gal who is living with her abusive dad when a James Dean looking hood, played by Michael Sheen, comes to the doorstep and woos the young lass before killing her dad and they both set fire to the home to make it look like the old bugger killed himself. Now they travel across the lands as he seems to take pleasure in killing and she is hooked on him. This was a film I was never interested in seeing but I was glad I finally did. It’s not batshit crazy like that stupid Oliver Stone flick, Natural Born Killers, but done with more intelligence and excellent cinematography.

3.  BANDITS-2001

Now, this is a film I really enjoy and can watch over and over again because it’s funny and quite engaging. It stars Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton as best friends who escape from prison and engage on a bank robbing spree becoming known as the “sleepover bandits” because they sleep over at the bank managers home the night before robbing the bank. They are polite and well liked and people like them. They get help by a very dumb, wanna-be stunt man who drives the the getaway car. Enter unhappy housewife, played by Cate Blanchett, who comes across the robbers and soon develops a relationship with the Bruce Willis character who seems to be the more put together guy. When the troop must separate, she must go with the Billy Bob character who is brainy but also a hypochondriac and major worry wort. They develop a relationship and soon they realize that they are all in it together and she loves both men. How will it end? Will it be a fun ending or be met with disaster? You just have to watch it.

One I want to see...

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE-1937

This is on my must see list because I love Fritz Lang films and I love Sylvia Sidney(The old lady in Beetlejuice) and I like Henry Fonda. Fonda plays a hard luck outlaw who meets his defence lawyers secretary played by Sydney. She believes in his goodness and as a result he is given a second chance and their life is a happy one but it is short lived. When Fonda is in the wrong place at the wrong time, he is framed but no one believes him but his wife. They go on the lam as she will never leave him. This is a hard hitting film for the 1930s and Lang made these 2 very pretty people believable. I love to see this film and I will one day.

Which 3 would you choose?

Weekly Song Challenge

Another week and more music to enjoy. Jingle, Jangle, Jungle has a good time with music and she has another 3 themes this week and here they are...

A SONG WITH A BOY'S NAME IN THE TITLE

A SONG THAT MENTIONS A PLACE IN THE TITLE

A SONG THAT KENNY LOGGINS WROTE

1. FERNANDO BY ABBA-1975

Now, come on! You know I was going with ABBA because this is the first song that came into my head and I loved it from the moment I heard it. I was in some diner where we stopped on our way to visit my Aunt & Uncle in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I just fell in love with it right from the get go. I was only 11 but loved it.

2. BORN ON THE BAYOU BY CCR-1969

Yes, Contrary to what you might think, I  do love good rock N' roll and this is one I enjoy and was the first one to pop into my head this time. Creedence, Clearwater Revival or CCR is an excellent band that my mom-in-law liked.

3. I'M ALRIGHT BY KENNY LOGGINS-1980

This song was written by Kenny Loggins which, I think, put him on the big map because it was featured in the classic comedy "Caddyshack" that starred Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Ted Knight and Rodney Dangerfield. This poor gopher gets no respect but he still loves to dance to this tune. So did I when I used to go to a fire hazard basement disco for kids who were under age for drinks, but wanted to boogie down. The place was called "Charlie Chan's" and I had a blast there dancing, often, to this tune. Now just make sure you beware of O'Henry bars .

The Wrong Week To Stop Sniffing Glue

Hello, my blogging friends and I hope you are all doing well despite COVID19, tornadoes, hurricanes and Bob.  Sorry, I had to put that last one in because it just seemed to work.

Ok, I have had some, shall I say women’s issues when I am way past the menopausal shit. In the spring I had a procedure to remove a polyp from my uterus and it was found I have Endometrial Uterine Hyperplasia. Seriously, I can’t believe I remembered this term. Basically, I am producing too much estrogen which increases weight gain, menopausal shit and, if left unchecked, cancer. To ensure I will not get cancer, I decided to have a complete hysterectomy including the ovaries. I would be seeing the Dr. in September because they are very behind with surgeries due to covid. In the summer, I started bleeding again..not much, but that is not normal. Between the doctor on vacation and screw ups with the labs (like one under renovation so it was closed), I finally got my ultrasound done. Thankfully, that looked normal. I will have the operation the day after our Thanksgiving, a Tuesday and coming home Thursday. I did see her(Doc) last week and she explained how the procedure will be done, etc..

Now comes the week of hell that was the near the end of August..

Finally, On Tuesday, August 24th, I found out my actual operation will be on October 12th and, even though I need it, since I don't want cancer, I felt a sense of ...ick. It has become reality and my fears and concerns became more heightened. I felt like I am in a race with cancer and I want to beat it to the finishing line. The good news is it will be done, it is a surgery but routine and, I hope, I can work, after a month, lying in bed with the laptop on my actual lap. The doctor said it should not be a problem. I have not been off work for any extended period of time since I started with Credit Counselling over 30 years ago.

Aug. 25th...I texted someone near and dear to me that I would love to speak with them. They told me they do not want to talk and hope the procedures go well. They stated I am very judgemental and insensitive in every conversation they ever had with me and had to hold their tongue often. To say I was hurt is an understatement especially when I am dealing with my health. I am better now and when the person wishes to speak to me, I will be hear but no more texts or emails. Things get lost in the translation so I hope this person will be open to seeing me one on one and have a good conversation. This person is hurting too and I need to be open to what I may have said or done but I can not walk on eggshells.

Aug. 26th-My hubby, around 6ish, was doubled over in severe pain. Finally, I convinced him to go to the hospital here which...is a blecchy hospital to be honest. At first I thought appendix but how he was crying out in pain, and my hubby can take a lot, I thought...Kidney Stone! We waited for 3 1/2 hours and left around 1:30 with my ADHD husband ranting and raving about the hospital.

Aug. 27th-Hubby went to the hospital in Burlington and was well-received and got diagnosed with a kidney stone but it was too big to pee out. It had to be lasered-.blasted out just like it was a death star. He came home and was happy with the result and knowing he will be ok.

Aug. 28th-I visited my best friend  but came home around 6pm to hear my sweet hubby back in agony! I asked if he can travel to Burlington but he said he couldn't take the drive. I mentioned this hospital and he said no way. I gave him 2 percoset  and they did nadda! Finally by 10 pm I told him I will call 911 so the ambulance will come and he will be in another area of the hospital. I couldn't be with him because of covid, so I waited and called and waited until 4am. I finally went to sleep but called 4 hours later and still...nothing. I ate and did some meditation before I went to see him. Finally, he was getting a room and had to await surgery for the kidney stone. From Saturday night to Wednesday, he was told he he will get the operation so no food or drink. By 8:30/9pm, he was told "No operation today". He was given the saddest ugliest sandwich I had seen or a muffin. On top of that, he was on morphine every 4 hours to stop the pain. Wednesday, I picked him up and was told he had the operation but hubby corrected me,... they just placed a stint in his ureter and sent him home with more percoset. Since then, he has been ok and has been careful not to do too much.

Did I mention he has a hernia which is painful and has to be dealt with also? So yeah the next 3 weeks will be operation home. I almost feel like buying that game, Operation," and having some fun. My hubby is now having his Kidney stone removal next week Tuesday (it was supposed to be Oct. 5th). On Sept. 28th, he will have his hernia operation and Oct. 12th is my operation. My hubby heals quickly, amazingly so, so he should be ok when I go in. I heal very slowly because of my connective tissue disorder so I will just be reading and watching movies.

Did I mention we still have no bathroom downstairs because of the burst pipes from 3 1/2 yrs ago?  Yes, well, we had the plumbers in right after the week of hell. Michael worked on the insulation before he got hit by the pain. He wants to lay the floor down after his operations but before mine so we can get a toilet in there otherwise I will be climbing stairs and ...well, that will not be pretty. It's hard enough to climb the stairs at 3am with my constant pain never mind an operation. The contractor we hired is so busy he will be coming to do our bathroom in Dec. By then, I hope to be much better.

So....that has been my situation of late. There are always bright spots...my family, my friends, my animals, a good job, a home. I am lucky.

Thursday Movie Picks-Actors/Actresses who played themselves

I am very late posting this as I have been so busy with my friend and his boyfriend who love walking and his boyfriend never saw Niagara Falls before or Niagara On The Lake. I am dead tired and so very sore but I do enjoy walking..until my hips grind bone on bone. Yesterday, I saw my dr. ...operation coming October 12th. for a full hysterectomy...I am beyond exhausted. Now, my brain is not functioning but I still came up with 3 movies that fit this bill. Head on over to Wandering Through The Shelves to see what everyone else has chosen..here are my 3.

1. AIRPLANE-1980

This is a very funny, but dumb movie(I love these) that showed how funny Leslie Nielsen really is, Peter Graves as well and seeing Barbara Billingsly(Leave It To Beaver mom) speaking jive. This movie makes fun of all the Airport disaster movies that came out in the 1970s. It stars Robert Hays, who boards the plane trying to get the girl he loves, played by Julie Hagerty, back. She is a stewardess who must help take control of the plane when all the pilots fall ill. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a famous basketball player, plays the navigator who is found out by this little boy who guesses he is the famous basketball player. Kareem tells him he better keep his mouth shut, just before Kareem becomes ill. He is actually quite funny in the movie. This is a fun flick to have a laugh and escape from the reality of life.

2 OCEAN'S TWELVE-2004

This stars all the guys from Ocean's Eleven-George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon etc.  Plus Julia Roberts as the wife of Clooney. They must retrieve all the money they stole from the last movie and create an elaborate way to steal some goods when in Europe. At one point the Julia Robert's character must play a pregnant Julia Roberts but she ends up meeting Bruce Willis and mayhem ensues. It's actually one of the funniest bits on the film and done so well.

3. ZOMBIELAND-2009

I bet this film will be popular this week but not in Spanish which I have here because I could not find a scene from youtube, through Blogger, showing Bill Murray.. You would think I would hate this film because it stars that annoying ass, Jessie Eisenberg, who has survived a zombie apocalypse. It is a horror movie to boot which scares me to death except this movie is hilarious. Jessie meets up with a twinkie searching nut, played by Woody Harrelson and 2 women who get the better of them when they all end up in a Beverly Hills home. There they meet Bill Murray whom they are ready to kill thinking he is a zombie but he stops them, thankfully. They learn that he makes himself look like a zombie so he can go out and play golf. If actual zombies are around, he just acts like a zombie so they leave him alone. It's so funny and I wish he was in the film more. This is a better movie than one would think.

Which films would you choose?

Weekly Song Challenge

I have not been around due to some personal heartbreaks, operation notification and hubby in the hospital plus friends visiting from Vancouver. I will write up the dilemmas later but let’s have fun with the theme challenge set by the wonderful Jingle, Jangle, Jungle. Here are the 3 themes...

A SONG WITH BLUE IN THE TITLE

A SONG THAT STARTS WITH THE FIRST LETTER OF YOUR NAME

A SONG WITH ROOM(OR TYPE OF ROOM)IN THE TITLE

1. BLUE TANGO BY LEROY ANDERSON- 1952

This is a song that I heard when I was a kid and just fell in love with it. To this day I daydream dancing the tango tothis...but without the whiplash neck style they do with the ballroom tango...I prefer the Argentine tango.

2.  BANG A BOOMERANG BY ABBA -1974

This is from their album, ABBA, and I always liked it plus it popped into my head so there ya go. Who does bank a boomerang? Enjoy.

3. ROOM WITH A VIEW SUNG BY PAUL MCCARTNEY-1998

OK the movie, with the same name, came into my mind first and this song came up. It's written by Noel Coward back in 1928 when he was in Hawaii recuperating from a nervous breakdown. I love Noel Coward and I like Paul (George is my favourite) so I thought this worked.

It has been a bit chaotic and I just flat-line a bit but I will let you know the scoop...I promise.

Thursday Movie Picks: Oscar Winner's Edition-Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

I apologize for not visiting or commenting on my last post. Joel I love your picks as always and really loved the book but I still think Mary did it. He was killed while hugging someone.... OK This week is another double hitter and let's get to it. I'd love if you visited Wandering Through The Shelves to find out the other scores and songs that were chosen. Here are mine..

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE

1. WIZARD OF OZ-1939

If someone doesn't know this film, they have been living under a rock. Harold Arlen (composer) and E.Y. "Yip" Harburg wrote the songs for this classic that is played on TV every year for decades. Actually, Herbert Stothart, who underscored the film took home the Oscar for the score. I remember when this film always played around Easter time and I watched it (along with The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur) until I could sing every song. I loved her ruby slippers.

2. NOW, VOYAGER-1942

"Oh Jerry, Don't lets ask for the moon. We have the stars." Love that schmaltz that is done to perfection by Bette Davis with Paul Henreid. It is a classic film of a mousy woman, dominated by Mommie dearest until she goes to a sanitarium, a weak-willed mouse, and comes out a stunning beauty full of strength. The music is classic and was composed by Max Steiner, known for his brilliance at creating great musical works and was part of the factory of Hollywood.

3. LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING-2001

Joel, I know you hate this trilogy(what a shame) but the score is just brilliant, in my mind's eye and Howard Shore deserved the Oscar for this epic undertaking of the Ring cycle. I love the whole work and want to get the soundtrack. "May It Be" by Enya was robbed of an Oscar that year.

BEST SONG

1. THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT-1936

I love this song by Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields which was featured in the musical, "Swing Time" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. I thought this scene was sweet, romantic and funny.

2. OVER THE RAINBOW-1939

Nobody does it better than Judy Garland and this is the first time one heard this song, from The Wizard of Oz." It was composed by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg that, now, has become such a classic, it is sung by almost everyone. Funny, the dumbnut, Louis B. Mayer initially cut this song from the film thinking it slowed down the picture but thankfully Victor Fleming (credited director), Mervyn LeRoy(producer), Arthur Freed (Associate Producer) and Roger Edens(Garland's vocal coach and mentor) fought for the song to be reinstated and it was. King Vidor directed this scene and the barn scenes.

3. QUE SERA, SERA-1956

Who would have thought a famous song like this comes from an Alfred Hitchcock film...but it does! This is from his own remake, "The Man Who Knew Too Much" with James Stewart and Doris Day and was integral to the plot. Like Garland and "Over The Rainbow", this song became Doris Day's signature tune. It was written by Jay Livingstone and Ray Evans published in 1955 but shot to stardom in this movie. I always liked this song.

So which 3 would you pick?

Weekly Song Challenge

I actually listened to all your suggestions and read the comments but I have had a most difficult week last week and it is extending into this week. Anyway, enough crap, Check out Jingle, Jangle, Jungle for her latest themes and here they are...

A SONG WITH A FLOWER IN THE TITLE

A SONG WITH A TYPE OF COIN IN THE TITLE

A SONG WITH AN OCCUPATION IN THE TITLE

1. DESERT ROSE SUNG BY STING-1999

When I first heard this song, I was really taken in with it. I found it haunting and I am not a huge Sting fan but he did a great job. I think it is one of his better songs.

2. 10 CENTS A DANCE SUNG BY RUTH ETTING-1930

I love this song and first heard it when Doris Day sang it, playing Ruth Etting, in a biography about her (Love Me or Leave Me). Somehow, this Rogers and Hart song (yes, before Rogers joined with Hammerstein) really got to me and I love the original Ruth Etting number.

3. THE TOREADOR SONG SUNG BY DMITRI HVOROSTOVSKY-2014

OK, hate me, it's an opera song but I have listened to many songs that I don't care for so...so there...lol. I love Carmen which is by Georges Bizet from 1875. There are many famous pieces from this one opera including this great one which is about the bullfighter whom Carmen sets her sights on. It has been done by many, many people but this man just got to me...what a shame he died in 2017 from brain cancer.

Now for your amusement....
