Hello and greetings! So...my biopsy was a no go last Friday as it was more of a meet and greet. She did say my uterine wall was slightly thicker than norm but nothing to talk about which is good. She agrees with my family doctor to have the biopsy done. I have to take some meds the night before since I never had kids. I know... TMI, but I do runneth the mouth over often so, who cares:) Do you know I texted a friend about my dilemma with dizziness etc.. and she offered to take me to my appointment and persisted even when I told her it was in Burlington (40 min away and have to take the dreaded QEW freeway). When I told her the date and time, she texted that she couldn't make it because that is when she takes her dog to the old folks home! I just couldn't believe it but should have known. She has backed out at the last minute to babysit our dog plus there have been other times where she backed out at the last minute. In each case, she volunteers but then rescinds. The one time I did ask her to bring her dog to visit my mom, she agreed happily and sounded so excited to test her dog out amidst the older people but she excused herself saying she didn't feel well.but she would love to try another time...I asked 5 times and each time there was an excuse. Writing this, I feel like a complete dolt! I have been there for her on more than one occasion but this last time hurt. OK, I bitched enough and I will say a friend at work listened to my tears and took me to my appointment. I was so deeply touched and know how blessed I am to have so many good friends.
OK now I am done my bitching and am showcasing some of my scrapbook pages for you to look at and, I hope, enjoy seeing. If you could see my craft room, you would run in the other direction...a tornado has hit it which I am now trying to clean up.
Quotes by James Stewart. Jimmy Stewart loved Africa and was very fond of the elephant.
My friend dreams of having a wrap around porch. Too bad you can't see the window quotes but check out that one window...what is wrong with that it??
Jimmy's childhood home. We walked around July 4th which was fun to do hence the scrapbook paper page but I added Canada is the land of the free too.
The Church on the left was closed...bummer. This was the church Jimmy attended any time he went home.
My favourite/top 20 Jimmy Stewart films
I am proud of the left page as I drew the Santa free hand from an image off the intro cards of the film "It's A Wonderful Life" that I looked up on the internet. Now on to Lucy!
Yup, we tried that famous commercial and I had to go all sparkly for that. My friend is on the left and I am the drunk on the right:)
The home, top left, is Lucy's birth home while the other is one she grew up in. I added all the sparkle around the flowers..my hand cramped up! It was tough squeezing out that sparkle...er..never mind.
Yup, I can be all ham. The people who own Lucy's childhood home painted the garage like her blue dress and built the BBQ just like Lucy & Ethel did.
Sorry about the glare but wanted to showcase Lucy's films...top 10
I took these 2 pictures while sitting at a restaurant in Indian, PA. I enjoyed creating the border but my fingers were blue for days.
I didn't realize (brain fart) until halfway through making this scrapbook that Lucille Ball's initials stood for our first names..cool or what!
This was fun to make but took me away from making cards which I have to get doing! By the way, my dear friend Loretta loved it and that made me happy.
I hope the biopsy goes well, but good that the doctor doesn't think it should come back with bad news. But good to take the biopsy anyhow. better safe than sorry, right? Loving the scrapbook. That Lucille Ball page is my favorite. You were really creative with her photo. Happy fall! hugs-ErikaReplyDelete
It took some doing, but you finally found a friend to take you to your doctor appointment. I'm sorry the first friend bailed. I too have friends and family members who are quick to offer their help but fail to follow through, always making excuses and backing out at the last minute. I hope when you do get the biopsy the results with be in your favor. I've got fingers (and eyes) crossed.
In the years before I started blogging I was into scrap-booking. I completed half a dozen large volumes filled with memorabilia about my favorite actresses including Teresa Wright and Cathy D'Donnell. I enjoyed the creative process of artistically arranging pictures, text and other elements on the page. You did a great job on your tributes to Jimmy Stewart and Lucy Ball. I have known for decades that Jimmy was from the town of Indiana, PA, not terribly far from where I grew up. My favorite Stewart films are Anatomy, Rear Window and Vertigo.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend BB!
Well done with the scrapbook.ReplyDelete
Yeah, cross her off the list of people who can help you. I wouldn't ask her for anything ever again. Not sure why some people are like that.
Oh Birgit, how hurtful for you, maybe you should reassess your friendship with this lady, certainly never let yourself rely on her again. Pleased you had someone else to go to your appointment with you, it's always good to have someone there for support.ReplyDelete
I hope the biopsy goes well and the results are good, wit keep everything I have two of crossed, take care, Kate x
I don’t understand people’s behaviour - maybe they get a kick out of offering to help and convince themselves the reasons for not doing it aren’t their fault. Then they still have the warm glow of feeling like a good person. Weird. Sorry the biopsy was postponed - so good wishes for it again.ReplyDelete
You must be younger than I. Those types--like your friend who keeps backing out on stuff--I excise them from my life. I don't have the time or patience!ReplyDelete
Nice creation bookReplyDelete
Some people just aren't friends. They like to pretend they are, but they aren't.ReplyDelete
Love the book. You did some work on that.
(I'd argue that Canada is the only land of the free at the moment...)
So sad that your "friend" treats you so poorly. Not sure you should continue that friendship. After all, it seems you have others in your life who are more reliable and giving.ReplyDelete
I've never been into scrapbooking, but I certainly appreciate a good scrapbook layout. This is a wonderful book and a memory that you can look back on for years to come. So many beautiful pages of stars you admire, too. So glad you finished this, even though your craft room might now be a disaster. Believe me, I know that feeling, but the end product/project was SO worth it in your case!
Hi Birgit - people ... she sounds 'a pain' and as the others have said - drop her. So unfair and selfish. Glad your office colleague offered to drive you ... and sincerely hope all continues to go well with the medical aspects for you both.ReplyDelete
Wonderful scrap book for you to enjoy in the years to come ... looks so much fun - cheers Hilary
Sure an awesome job indeed.ReplyDelete
With a friend like that, you don't need any enemies. Would cross them off the list for anything. Great your co-worker was able to take you and hope they figure it out for the better soon.
Love the scrapbook pages. Good job on the Santa.ReplyDelete
That is so frustrating when a friend volunteers then backs out, especially when its done often. Glad someone took you.
>>... I am proud of the left page as I drew the Santa free hand from an image off the intro cards of the film "It's A Wonderful Life"
Ha! It looks great!! And I definitely "re-cog-O-nize" it (as T-i-double GRR-r would say).
But!... WOW! 'Harvey' at only #8?!?! What the--?!
'It's A Wonderful Life' is unquestionably #1. But I'd have 'Harvey' at either #2 or #3. In my opinion, the only Uncle Jimmy movie that might - *MIGHT* - be better'n 'Harvey' is 'Mr. Smith Goes To Washington'. But I'm pretty sure I'd have 'Harvey' at #2, just one notch ahead of 'Mr. Smith'.
And where the heck is 'SHENANDOAH' on your list?!?! That would be my #4 favorite Uncle Jimmy movie!! A 'Top 20 Jimmy Stewart Movies List' without 'Shenandoah' on it?! That's like sacrilege in my opinion!
I'll forgive ya,... but it won't be the easiest thing I've ever done. ;-)

Your scrapbook is trés cool, Birgit. It shows how much fun you had creating it. Your cute Santa Claus looks to be dancing with much gusto. Is that a real person's face, a poster, or a ghost in the window?ReplyDelete
Knocking on wood, crossing my fingers, and channeling positive thoughts for you, Birgit. Hugs.
