Doing Scary Things

Happy Halloween Everybody!

I went to with my great friend to the Toronto Zoo last Saturday and saw the Pandas, all the great big pussy cats, the young polar bear and the Gorillas where there was such a tiny cute baby Gorilla-Loved it. I walked way too much and we relied on the transit system which is another story. Yes, I was too sore the next day and probably needed an actual walker as all my joints were grinding but hey, I saw such wonderful animals  and I tried to conquer a fear....Heights! Yup that's me with my friend riding on this zip thingy. That is my scary fear for Halloween day.  I am going out this eve with a group of friends to a bar we like to call the island of misfit toys. They have an older crowd and good music. I am dressing up as Goo from Gumby:)

What is your fear? Have you tried to conquer it? Are you dressing up this eve?

  1. I'm scared of rollercoasters, but I made a true, successful attempt to conquer it as a youngin -- riding every rollercoaster at Magic Mountain including the Colossus. I'm too scared to revisit that fear now. Have you noticed we get less brave (or stupid) as we age?

    Happy Halloween, BB!

    1. I won't do roller coasters-too high and scary

  2. I've been dragged on many rollercoasters and scary amusement park rides over the years. I finally decided I don't get any joy out of it whatsoever, so I just refuse now! Life's too short to do things you don't enjoy (besides the things we HAVE to do that we don't enjoy, like house cleaning!)

    1. You're right! We should do things we love...forget house cleaning-I am often scared of that

  3. I'm so claustrophobic, that it's a challenge to walk into an elevator. I love the ones with glass. Heights don't bother me. So you take the elevator for me and I'll do the high wire act.

  4. Aren't zoos fun? A Ferris wheel has the same scary effect on me. Most don't even have safety straps. Have fun dressing up!

    1. Zoos are and so nice to see the animals. Saftey straps should always be there but you're right they are not in ferris wheels

  5. Good job facing your fear! My fear would have to be enclosed spaces. Ugh I hate them!

  6. I conquer my fears by telling myself nothing is impossible. That way you eliminate all sense of lingering helplessness by making it so! Happy Halloween!

  8. My regular clothes look like a costume, but no - not dressing up for the first time in YEARS.

As far as fears go, I try to approach one at a time and smash 'em, with various levels of success and failure. :-)

  9. Don't mind heights, but don't like speed or plunging so that your stomach lurches. Glad you're having fun!

  10. Good for you for trying to conquer your fear! Looked like fun! Absolutely have fear of heights; I would be hard pressed to do what you did :)

    1. The misfits were all there and it was so much fun. There were people there in their 70's! Everyone was dancing. The Man from Glad was there and he was a dead ringer for him

  14. Fun zoo trip, bar visit, and zip-lining. I always do things I'm afraid of to prove I'm not afraid. It doesn't usually end well. Congrats to you for being brave!

  15. I don't remember Goo, even after seeing a photo of her. Maybe I stopped watching before she came on. Oh well, I bet you were a cute goo. How did you make the mermaid fin? I still have a fear of diving into water and just jumping down period. I thought skydiving would cure me. Not at all.

    1. You went skydiving?? Wow! I could never do that. I didn't make the fins. I just bought blue fabric and wrapped it around me (had blue pants on and a shirt. It covered my feet and then I painted my face blue:)

    1. Oh that is so nice...I live away from TO so it was a treat but it took us from 6pm until 9pm to get back to downtown TO. They say to take a bus, train etc... well they better get their act together! Next time the car!

  17. Look at you conquering your fears—that's awesome! Sounds like you had a great Halloween day and eve! I didn't really dress up this year, I guess I was too busy making sure all the kiddos had a costume that I forgot about myself. ;)

  18. Good for you! This is awesome. I am afraid of heights too so this would have been really scary for me as well. I don't know if I could have done it!
Hope you had a fun Halloween. :)

  19. What fun! I'm wishing you a walker for Christmas, or better yet, levitation powers. (You know you want them. ;)

I pretty much live my fears, so not much room left to explore. It's the only way to be, right? Hope you had an awesome Halloween!
