A To Z Challenge-The Letter U

This was a tough one and I was struggling to find a film I have seen with someone in the film whose name starts with the letter U. I decided to look up some people who have names with U in them and I came across this film that I feel is a stretch for 3 reasons....I can hardly remember it, I saw it when I was 18 when visiting Graz, Austria. It is a French film dubbed in German, so I could not quite get to know what they were really saying but I do recall that I was laughing. Head on over to the A to Z Challenge to see what everyone else is talking about.

Oh...I am sorry for not replying to comments like I love to do...I'm falling behind....

UP TO HIS EARS-1965

DIRECTOR: Philippe De Broca
STARS: Jean Paul Belmondo, Ursula Andress
OSCAR NOMS: Nil
OSCAR WINS: Nil
PLOT: A depressed billionaire has failed several times to end his life so he hires hitmen to take him out. Once he meets a beautiful stripper, he wants to call off the hitmen but things don't go as planned...let the chase scenes begin!
LOVE: I remember the scene on the rickety bridge..it made me laugh and be terrified at the same time...I'm really, really, really scared of heights.
TRIVIA: Jean Paul loved heights and was a prankster much to the dismay of one actor who was scared out of his wits. Except for the scenes in the Himalayas, the rest of the action takes place where you see it. Jean Paul and Ursula, that sex kitten, started seeing each other while making this film and lived together until the early 70's. I have to see this film and not in dubbed German

URSULA ANDRESS-March 19, 1936

OCCUPATION: Actress, Publicity Star, Just standing there in bikinis
OSCAR NOMS: hahahaaa
OSCAR WINS: eye roll
ANECDOTE: Even though she was raised in a strict German household, she rebelled, as one can see, and had no worries appearing nude. She is most famous in her white bikini from the James Bond film, Dr. No. She also had this wild bikini (see above) that was a shooting machine and was wonderfully parodied in the Austin Powers film. She had many affairs...big surprise.

  1. I can read others blogs and comment or I can comment on mine. There are just so many hours in the day and I do need to have time to eat chocolate.

  2. Hi, Birgit!

U stumped me with this one, but I remember Jean Paul Belmondo from Casino Royale and I remember Ursula Undressed as the girl in Dr. No who says "yes yes yes" to Bond. It must have been a stretch for Ursula to play a beautiful stripper-slash-sex kitten. That's why they call it acting... and that's why they make the big bucks! :) I vividly recall the Fembots in Austin Powers and their lethal nipple cannons.

Thanks for the mammaries, dear friend BB! :)

    1. I thought I was the only one who called her undressed:) you should watch a clip from the 10th Victim showing Ursula use her bikini bra as a deadly titty shooter..very compelling acting

  5. That definitely looks like a movie you'll want to catch in English to keep up with all the touching dialogue. :-) Seriously though, good comedy transcends language, and that does look like fun.

  6. Sounds like a fun one indeed, although I'd prefer it in English. She sure rebelled and let it all hang out.

  9. This plot sounds familiar, so I'm guessing I've seen this and it had, unaccountably, slipped my memory until now. Well done on a difficult letter! With more difficult ones coming up - I'm sure your ingenuity will not fail you.

  10. BIRGIT ~
I'll go with Peter Ustinov. (As a little kid, I loved the movie 'BLACKBEARD'S GHOST').

For a movie, I'll say 'UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE', but I'd be lying if I said I remembered anything about it. Too much beer has gone over the tongue since I saw it.

    1. Oh gosh, I'm certain and would love to see it. Something must be said for seeing it in dubbed German. I also watched Bonanza and Dallas in dubbed German...the Bonanza episodes always made me laugh. Benny Hill made fun of it and he got it down pat!

  14. I certainly recognize the stars and remember Ursula the best from 'Dr. No.', as you mentioned. This sounds like a fun movie and I'm going to look for it. Thanks, Birgit. Happy last week of the A to Z!

  15. Definitely never seen this one. Wasn't Ursula Andress in Ten?

    1. Nope...you are thinking about Bo Derek who was the 3rd wife of John Derek. His first wife was Ursula and his second, Linda Evans. They all looked similar in May way, don't they?
