A To Z Reflections

Now we come to reflections part of which I will give my 2 cents worth and probably repeat what many say.

1. I enjoyed the A to Z as I always do each year...I think this is my 3rd year..no, I believe it is my 4th....forgive my menopausal brain.

2.  There was no link which I actually didn't mind because I did not have to surf through 2,000 links and click on one only to find out they did not do any write ups, they wanted to sell crap or they disappeared like a fart in the wind (Shawshank redemption quote).

3.  The amount of people who did participate went quite a bit down probably due to what I mentioned above plus some just decided not to participate this year either due to being too busy or not liking the new format.

4. I was a bad girl because I still could not keep up especially with one of my favourite bloggers-Vidya Sury, who is always an inspiration.  I do intend to go back and read more and even comment! I did enjoy finding a few new blogs which I follow now due to the A to Z. I was also quite bad in linking up. I'll get my hubby to spank me later:)

5. I'm not sure if I will write about the same thing next year-Movies and stars of yesteryear. I always enjoy it but I feel the need to branch out to something else. If you all enjoy it, then maybe, but change is good as well. One thing I need to do is write these posts ahead of time! Famous last words

6. I was not going to sweat over not being able to visit or comment. It is supposed to be fun besides if I sat and reviewed all the posts I wanted to, my ass would be the size of Cleveland.

So...there you have it, my reflections. Were they not the most well thought out comments ever? I hope, after your eyes roll back to their normal position, that you will do the challenge next year and let me know what you would like me to show/talk about....Film and film stars, My amazing mom and her life, My travels, where I live, Art, and, oh yes, my card making. Any comments about this would be great

  1. Hi, Birgit!

Year in and year out, you offer some of the most interesting posts in all of blogging, and I am eager to come here and support you. If you choose to stick with movies as your A To Z theme next year, I won't be disappointed, because I am a film buff. I enjoy reviewing movies that I love, discovering movies that I missed, and picking up new pieces of trivia about the film makers of the 20th century.

Congratulations on completing this year's A To Z challenge, dear friend BB!

  2. Hi Birgit - well done on completing the A-Z and not fretting about what you can't get to do ... I just do what I can ... I did enjoy the movies though - good reference posts to get back to ...

I don't know whether I'll do next year ...but I enjoy learning new things under 'my banner of Aspects of British Cxxxxx" ... art I'd enjoy ... where you live, where do you live by the way?!

Cheers and see you soon - Hilary

  4. No one wants a big ass.
Anything to do with movies and I'm there!

  5. Congratulations on a successful challenge, Birgit! As a classic movie buff, I enjoyed your theme a lot, but wouldn't mind if you decided to share some of your travels, since that is also a passion of mine. ☺ Good for you, not worrying about trying to get to everyone. That's a big failing for me and my ass is heading towards Cleveland-size, for sure! LOL Love your sense of humour! I may sit out next year, or not. Let you know in January. ☺

  6. Love your cards, but I also truly enjoy your old movie reviews. I don't much care for the new movies, so your reflections on the old are refreshing. Thank you!

  7. Congrats on making it through another challenge! I love that you're already planning next year, even if you're unsure of what to do. We're lucky if we can plan out what we're going to do in the next hour (also, we usually still fail).

  8. Hi Birgit...well I admire that you got through the challenge and gave me lots of films to look for.....I have a long list now!....you should do what you feel like doing always....don't plan just go with your flow.....xxxxx

  9. I thought you did quite well in finding not only movies starting with the appropriate letter, but the appropriate name of a person connected with the day's film!

  10. Mind numbing drivel is brain draining to read, LOL. You deserve a prize for finishing the AtoZ with style and make sure hubby spanks you for me, hehe. I reckon movies, stories, people rock! Hit me with your unique buzz Birgit

  11. I had this great plan to visit a ton of bloggers, and I think I managed ten. There's a saying about hell and good intentions that comes to mind. Loved your theme as always, so I did enjoy when I visited here.

  12. Perhaps next year you could do a deep dive on one film. Take a favorite movie and spend the entire A to Z analyzing it. Spend on post on a favorite character. Another on the writer or perhaps the source material (if it was based on a book or something). Just a thought.

  13. Have to do it for fun indeed. Too much stress and a wide ass are never good things lol

  14. You did a good job with it. The double dip was impressive.

If we're voting, though - I go with art.

You already post about movies and card making year-round. I've seen people do more personal stuff and some of the letters are tough, so they get forced. But art is kind of a broad category.

  15. You had a great series of posts once again! I always love reading about movies, new or old, especially trivia and behind-the-scenes stories.

Maybe next year write about new movies! Would love to hear your thoughts about Transformers 5. ;-)

  16. As long as you don't write a short story everyday I will gladly read your posts. This was my fifth year and for all those years there is one blogger I follow who has never finished a challenge or even been on the right letter. Not sure about next year.

  17. I love your movie theme, but won't you run out of films eventually?*

    *No - silly question!

  18. I would like to read about your amazing mom's life. You had written bits and pieces about it in the past and it was always fascinating to read. I kinda of petered out reading A/Z posts this year, but I did like your theme with movies, even if I hadn't seen 30% of the ones you features :)

  19. That blog challenge is a huge commitment. I think I could manage doing the a-z topics but doing the homework would be hard.

  20. I enjoyed your posts and happy to include you as a new blogger friend. BUT, you really need to start a genealogy blog and write about your interesting family. I always enjoy your comments.

  21. This was helpful and interesting to me. I think, overall, it was a smart move to do away with the link. Trying to find new blogs, adding my name to the #503rd spot...it was all discouraging. Of course the drawbacks are not many folks will find you. But blogland is not as courteous as it used to be about following others' blogs. Regardless, your posts are always fun and informative. And I hope you enjoy the spanking from hubby. Wink.

  22. You did a great job, Birgit. I especially enjoyed the factoids. I'm still reeling about Clark Gable having false teeth.

  23. My vote is for travels! But that probably doesn't surprise you.

Sorry I missed your A to Z. This year has been insane. I'm so glad I didn't even attempt the challenge. And I've never been able to pre-write my posts either.

Going to check out Vidya's blog. If you say it's good, that's enough for me.

    1. Thank you for coming by, JHM! Looking forward to keeping in touch! Ah, pre-writing posts? Me neither! Look what happened with my one-time half-assed attempt! :-D

      Thank you, Birgit!

  24. I've never tried the challenge and just content on reading entries. It's fun reading yours and I look forward to next year for whatever you choose. :)

  25. I intended to join in the challenge (it would have been my third year) but family things intervened and before I knew it everyone had got to G and I didn't feel I could catch up! Next year...

  27. Well done on making it to the end of the challenge. :-)

Like you, I didn't get to visit and leave comments on as many blogs as I wanted to. I simply ran out of time, especially towards the end of the month when I had a lot on, but I'm trying to revisit as many blogs as I can through the Reflections list.

  29. To everyone...thank you so much for visiting me and enjoying all mys posts for the A to Z and all the others. I'm actually glad to hear you really like reding about film and the nutty stars. I am thinking that I will write about my travels, my great mom and my family history throughout the year...why not?! I hope you will all enjoy it.

  30. I really liked your challenge this year, including your quick format, so personally, I'd be happy to see something similar next year. Though I understand the need to change, that's what blogging is about too, no? ;-)

This is just my third year taking part to the challenge, so I can't say I was accustomed to one format and missed it this year. But I did notice less hype around the challenge. I particularly missed the twitter chats.
But well, let's see what nex year will being :-)

  31. Birgit, on my personal list of top 10 bloggers, you are one. Not only are you an amazing writer, but a superwoman at consistently keeping in touch. You made me go all teary-eyed with #4 in your list, and had me laughing my head off with all the others. As for the no-list strategy this year, it was a big relief. Although, I admit I just didn't get around to adding my links to the social media threads. :-)

Film is definitely your forte, but I'd really really love to see a series on your Mom and her life, and your travels! Big big super-hugs to you. I am grateful for our connection!

  32. I always enjoy reading stuff about old movies since they're the best. I didn't make it to all of your posts but enjoyed the ones I did read. You could probably continue to get a lot of mileage for years to come using the same theme so go for it.

Thanks for playing A to Z with us again and for sharing your Reflections with us. It was a pretty laid back year for me and I liked that.

  33. This was such a good recap-- you're such a prolific blogger and commenter, I'm in awe of you. I didn't do the AZ year-- but cheered everyone from the sidelines.
