Retro Rubber Challenge- Sketch
My brother turned the big 54 on the 9th and we decided to take him out for dinner to a nice Japanese/Thai restaurant. It is all you can eat and you order from a computer menu and as many dishes as you want for one price. It was fantastic and I oinked near the end of my food feast! I don't know why I thought purple and yellow plus glitter for a man, but it speaks to my bro in some ways. I mean he loves the Blues and some of those guys really dress up in glitter vests and still look cool. My brother has decided to walk and hour each day and cover every street in our city which I think is pretty neat. A hummingbird represents joy in life so I picked that. Obviously you know his name. My dad wanted us both to have names starting with the letter "B" so I love our unique names. Thankfully my parents did not name their first choices...Barney and Barbie! I would have killed them if they named me that. I have had these stamps for a few years now so it works for the retro rubber (get your minds out of the gutter now)-:-). Have a great week everyone! I am off to nighty nights.

Hi, dear Birgit! You're right. I don't picture you as a Barney or a Barbie! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did it again, dear friend! You crafted another great card. It certainly looks masculine enough to be appropriate for your brother, especially if he's into the Blues. Happy birthday, Baron!
Thank you, dear friend BB, and enjoy the rest of your week!
i am so happy I am not named Barbie. Thanks about my card:)
DeletePurple and yellow work for a man. Well, at least in this part of the US (purple and yellow are Laker colors--the NBA team). And my father has walked every street in his city and several neighboring ones. Is your brother keeping a map and marking off the streets as he walks them? It's a great way to keep track.
ReplyDeleteHe is keeping track and detailing it on facebook. Oh yes-sports colours, which I know nothing about
DeleteHappy birthday to your brother! Sounded like a nice celebration at the restaurant! How neat with his walking daily and how he is choosing to do that walk! I do agree, Barney and Barbie would not have gone over well. Son's girlfriend has a daughter whose name starts with A so she wants their baby to have a name with an A. I just hope it is something I can pronounce and doesn't involve lots of A's like her daughter's name has in it :)
ReplyDeletebetty
Thank God my name is unique and not after a doll. There are some really pretty "A" names, like Anastasia, Amelia...
DeleteI bet your brother loved his card..nice strong manly colours and his name that's really cool......hope he is keeping a diary of his walks it will make great memories....xxxx
ReplyDeletehe is keeping track of his walks and he loves his card-he told me he keeps all my cards
DeleteTurn out really great indeed. The walk idea is a great one, as long as there are no bad streets with rift raft lurking haha Could do a blog on that with each street.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get him to have a blog. he did walk down a set of streets that no one wants to be near and he was shocked and glad to be out of there
DeleteYou ALWAYS do a wonderful job with the cards.
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteNo, can't see you as a Barbie. Great card, and a great way to celebrate. We had something similar with friends on Saturday - an "unlimited banquet" in a Chinese restaurant. I don't think we tested their limits, but I still felt as if I had overdone it! (Could be because I had.)
ReplyDeleteAnabel's Travel Blog
I love the unlimited banquet:)
DeleteI love the hummingbird! Your cards are always amazing. Do you sell them?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I wanted to tell you (in case you don't read my reply) your comment on my blog broke my heart. Your a survivor for going through all of that. Hug!
I did read your reply and thank you so very much:) I don't sell my cards but if people want one I will always be glad to give them

A fun and festive birthday card for Baron... I am certain he loved it. Thanks for including Retro Rubber in your stamping fun this week!
ReplyDeletehe did and thank you!
DeleteI think it looks great. You can send me a purple card anytime. Take care.
ReplyDeletei think purple is a man's colour-it is royalty and every man has a throne in their house...which one flushes:)
DeleteI love that your cards are filled with symbolism and that your brother plans to walk every street in the city. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteI think it is neat and thanks about the symbolism-I love the Animals and their totem meanings
DeleteVery cool card, Birgit. No doubt your brother was touched that you made it for him. I especially like that yellow.
ReplyDeletehe is and keeps all my cards
DeleteNice work. Happy birthday to your brother.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I told him to read my blog
DeleteIt's a fine name, too. I went to elementary school with a boy named Baron.
DeleteWhat a great story to go with a great card! I love the colors you picked - well done! I am glad you discovered us so be sure to join us again! Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber!!
ReplyDeleteThank you and I like your blog as I have a lot of rubber stamps
DeleteLike the sound of the restaurant Birgit. Great card, did he love it?
ReplyDeleteHe did love it and he told me he keeps all my cards
DeleteGreat card and thanks so much for playing along with our sketch at RRBC!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, BIRGIT!
ReplyDeleteAnd I find hummingbirds fascinating. I could probably sit and watch one for hours.

I love hummingbirds. Once I thought a bee was near me but it was this delightful rub throated hummingbird. I just watched him
DeleteHow thoughtful. Happy birthday to your bro.
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteThat's a beautiful card, Birgit (who could have been named Barbie!). Belated birthday wishes for your brother. Good to read that you had great time together!
ReplyDeleteWe did and thank God I don't have that other name
DeleteWhat beautiful colors. It sounds like a fun birthday celebration!
ReplyDeleteIt was and very filling. Love that restaurant
DeleteSuch a lovely, colorful card! Thanks so much for doing the RRCB challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much
DeleteTerrific card, for a second I thought I was looking at the birthday cake - great design.
ReplyDeleteThank you:) Nope not a birthday cake but now I am thinking about cake
DeleteLove those colors! What a great card. And the restaurant sounds fantastic. Two of my favorite kinds of food. Happy Birthday to your brother!
ReplyDeleteThanks and the restaurant is excellent-one of my favourites!
DeleteYou do have unique names! I thought that as soon as I saw the card. And you know what, there IS something masculine about it, despite the glitter. It's beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteUnique and AWESOME names, actually. I left out the awesome part :)
DeleteGlad you like the card and thanks about our names:)
DeleteLovely card for your brother, Birgit! Thanks for playing with us at the colourQ!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the challenge
DeleteIt's a lovely card, Birgit and still looks masculine. ☺ Happy belated birthday to your Bro! Baron and Birgit sounds much better than Barney and Barbie.
ReplyDeleteTschüß
Thanks and glad it looks manly. Thankfully my name is what I have
DeleteThat's funny. I think I'd rather be called Barney than Barbie.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday to your bro! I really like the softer lavender with the purple - very nice card, BB.
Cheers!
Oh gosh, I would rather be called Barney also. Thanks about my card:)
DeleteI have always liked personally created gifts, cards, etc.
ReplyDeleteEspecially if they have chimps on them.
Chimps make me laugh.
Then again, I'm a simple sort.
Personal is always better in so many ways. Chimps are good-I have no chimp stamp
DeleteEverybody needs a chimp stamp.
DeleteNeither of my sisters have ever made me a cool card like that. And the restaurant you went to sounds like the kind of place that I'd like.

he keeps every card which is nice. Love that restaurant!
DeleteHope you're having a great weekend, Birgit.
ReplyDeleteGood but sore I hope you are having a fab time
DeleteReally nice, Birgit! I'm sure your brother just loved it! And I can feel your pain about the first choices. My parents almost named me Crystal - yargh!
ReplyDeleteHe did and thank you! I don't mind the name Crystal but that name is not you. I love Becca which seems to suit you even though I only know you through blogland
DeleteWhat an awesome card, and what a cool name, too. Once, when I was a kid, I had to get surgery and when I woke up I saw my little hospital bracelet said "Baron." Not sure how they messed that up, but I always wondered if people in this day and age even still used that name.
ReplyDeleteSo... all you can eat? Order via computer? Thai AND Japanese? That sounds like the birthday celebration only dreams are made of...
Yup late to the responses. Oh I hear Baron more and more and that restaurant is great
DeleteThis is a beautiful card with lots of meaning behind it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much
DeleteSuch creativity in your card, and so much feeling in your post.
ReplyDeleteHere's my belated happy birthday to your brother. Loved the hummingbird card you created for him. He's a lucky guy.
ReplyDeletehe loved the card
DeleteThat Japanese/Thai place sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt is!
DeleteI'm glad they went with Birgit instead of Barbie too!
ReplyDeleteHave a good evening, friend.
Oh I am so relieved since I love my name
DeleteMy godmother's parrot is called Baron. He's a chatty so-and-so...swears like a sailor! I'm sure your brother is is nothing like the feathery fiend! :) Eat-all-you-can Thai and Japanese... that is right up my street too. Oink ...oink. :)
ReplyDeletehugs Asha
That is terrific! I love potty mouthed parrots
DeleteDon't they use some expressive color names? Love it.
ReplyDeleteHave a good evening, Birgit;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday, Birgit.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Sandra!
DeleteI bet Baron (great name, by the way) loved that card!
ReplyDeleteI bet Baron (great name, by the way) loved that card!
ReplyDeletehe did and keeps all the ones I make
DeleteOh Birgit, those colors are so striking together!! I'm so glad for you that you got the name you did, otherwise we might not have ever met! ~
ReplyDeleteThat is so true and thank you about my card
DeleteThat looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful card. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your brother! We have a Thai place in my town, and it's super good and super expensive. I'd love it to be all you can eat as Thai food always leaves me feeling hungry a few hours later. Congrats on the lovely card & have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks and I think you would love this place we have in our city
DeleteHow very cool, Birgit! Love the card, love the color combinations--and sure, why not, purple for a guy. It's not frilly or girlie in any way, I think. And I'm sure he loved it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit over at Quiet Laughter -- always a pleasure to find your name in the comments :) Happy Sunday!
Hope your weekend has been a great one.
ReplyDeleteBirgit, I so enjoy your creativity with the cards. I named all three of our daughters with "A" names, so I understand!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Notes Along the Way and commenting on my UFO photo!
Baron is a big strong name for a guy to live up to, but it sounds like your brother met the challenge and then some! And yet, he is gentle enough to love hummers, so that makes him a cool guy in my book! You're a good sister, Birgit (Oh, how I want to tease you and call you Barbie right now, but I won't!), and you've made an awesome card your brother will treasure!! Enjoy your day!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card! It is interesting to think of the colors separately because looking at the overall look of the card it does look masculine. I love how much thought you put into creating the card- that is what makes them so special. :)
ReplyDeleteI can understand your happiness at your parents picking the names they did! Phew!
Have a great day!

Have a great evening, Birgit.
