Letter M

MONSTER-IN-LAW-2005

A comedy about a young man who becomes engaged to his loving girlfriend and wants her to meet his mom....a high profile investigative reporter who suffered a meltdown a ways back. Needless to say, mommies dearest dislikes her son’s fiancĂ©e and tries to make life nasty for her future daughter in law but she has met her match.

This was the film Jane Fonda chose to make her comeback because she knew people would see it since the other star is Jennifer Lopez....yup Fonda chose this flick! It also stars Michael (who??) Vartan, known for the tv show, Alias, and the very funny Wanda Sykes and it's my guilty pleasure. This is not a great movie by any means but for some reason, I can watch it over and over again and laugh. I have to commend J-Lo for making herself look bad in one scene since she always has to give the “sexy pout” look in every photo and event you see her in.

  1. Never heard of this film. I must have been truly out of touch that year.

  2. It was fun for what it was indeed, but yeah, not that best film ever.

  3. I saw this one on TV, and although I'm not a fan of Jane Fonda, I laughed a lot during it. I'm enjoying these so much because they are films I have actually seen and have been made in my lifetime!

  4. Ha. Alias fans definitely know about Vartan. But it was clearly Jen Garner's show and the other actors were just along for the ride.

  6. I heard about the film, but never had the urge to see it. Besides, I don't get many comedies because my wife generally doesn't like them.

    1. It’s mindless but fun. I find comedies tough because some people are very specific. My mom was a tough one

  10. I saw the trailer just now and like it a lot. JHC Ms. Fonda has a rockin' bod at age 70. I like J-Lo and her accent. I didn't know before she has an accent. Not fair to compare but I like J-Lo and don't like J-La. (Jennifer Lawrence) I heard she did all kinds of things to get famous.
Mosnter-In-Law represents the better side of Hollywood. It looks hecka funny.
