Letter Q

THE QUICK AND THE DEAD-1995

A woman with a grudge rides into the town called Redemption that is ruled by meanie Gene Hackman. He holds a contest about who is the quickest draw. You have a bunch of idiots combating for the prize and most get shot to death. Hahahaaaa.....pretty stupid flick but I enjoy watching it because it’s stupid as F#*&. This stars Gene Hackman, Sharon Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio and in his American film debut, Russell Crowe as a preacher but was a former henchman for Hackman.

Sharon Stone was big back then and demanded Leo and paid his fee personally so she could have him in the film and she also fought for Russell Crowe to be in the film. On the other hand, her pants were so tight she couldn’t sit down but when her stand in got more whistles from the crew, she fired her.

  1. Hi, Birgit!

I remember this Western film, but don't think I ever watched it, in spite of the fact that I like all the actors in it. Gene Hackman is always a draw for me, and Sharon Stone's tight pants make it must see. The way Sharon ruled the roost, seems she was too big for her britches. :)

    Thank you, dear friend BB!

  2. Didn't know that about Stone. Great movie though.

  3. Never heard of this one which is weird considering it has Hackman, DiCaprio, Stone and Crowe.

  6. I haven't seen her in much, the only thing that comes to mind is that movie (which I didn't see) where she made her mark in history

  7. I missed this film. Was it a remake? Seems like a title I remember from way before 1995.

  9. I never did see this one. Sharon Stone... I saw her in an interview once talking about... Well, it doesn't matter, but since seeing that interview, I'm done with her.

  10. Oh, gosh, this was such a horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE movie! As I recall, I had it at #2 on my movie list 'THE WORST OF THE WEST'.

I do, however, still have a copy of the review I wrote for this movie at Amazon.scum many ages ago. And, BIRGIT, now that you've reminded me of it, I think I shall post that review next on my "Reviews" blog.

I would probably even have to at least consider 'The Quick And The Dead' if I were composing a list of all-time worst movies, regardless of genre. Movies just don't get a whole lot worse than this one. (It was too horrible for me to even consider it as a candidate in the "So Bad It's Good" category.)

  12. I discovered both Crowe and DiCaprio thanks to this one, and I've been fans of theirs, and their performances in it, ever since. I love it.

  14. I love watching stupid as f movies, too. The Husband does, too. Especially at home with a big bowl of popcorn. I remember this one coming out but didn't see it because I don't care too much for Sharon Stone. I've aged and forgot what it was about Sharon Stone I didn't like, so I'll probably look for this one. :-)

  15. Nope, you’re not selling this one! Was Leo diCaprio really around that far back? He always looks young to me.
