I have been a busy camper, not in the, "I've traveled to Paris" kind of way or "I have solved the riddle of Stonehenge" but just busy seeing family, birthdays, calling people I have not spoken to in a long time and all the rest of that type of jazz. I have also been catching up on some movies that were Oscar worthy and reading ...such fun:)
I created these cards back in May and am just showing them now. One if for my Dear Hubby's birthday and the other is for my best friend who is going through a horrible divorce and one that could be on a TV show.

I created this card out of love for my hubby and was so scared he would think it too girly but he loved it. His favourite colour, like me, is blue so the card is all about that colour:). The bird stamp is one he found for me which I used since he loves all animals(more than people) and he feeds the birds in the winter. I took blue cardstock that I punched out a design and used the cut out part for the focal point. With a deeper blue, I stamped a swirly image, that must be 15 years old now along with the stamp saying, all over the blue cardstock and added some stars. I stamped and embossed the bird image on white and place it behind the blue cardstock. I used distress inks in a variety of blues and purple, watered it down and placed white cardstock on top to get the blues effect (no B.B. King, sorry). Once it was dry, I punched out a ton of flowers and then I took some blue and violet pearl paint and coloured all the flowers. I stamped leaves in green and embossed it with Turquoise glitter powder and then fussy cut them all out. I started laying the flowers out all around the image, gluing them in place along with the leaves and also used pop up dots for some 3D effect. I stamped the happy birthday on a piece of lavender cardstock, cut it with some fancy scissors and adhered it to the card. he loved it...he better! :)

My dear friend is going through ...major shit at this time. There is no other way I can say it because it involves, affairs, compulsive shopping, major debt incurred under her name without her knowing, many trips to Bermuda with his mistress...that is just the tip of it. I have been helping her as much as I can and I made this card for her. I actually just tried this stencil with the embossing paste that I coloured with gold paint and it turned out quite well I think. I put the pink glossy cardstock into the embossing folder and rung it through the cuddlebug and started layering. I finished it off with the butterfly and flowers that I fussy cut out and placed it onto the card with pop up dots. My friend appreciated it and I am glad for that.
Both gorgeous, I love that deep blue. So sorry for your friend, the (soon to be) ex sounds horrendous.ReplyDelete
I'm glad you like the card and, yes, it is horrendousDelete
Your cards are, as always, lovely.ReplyDelete
I'm so glad your friend has you for support. It sounds like her life is challenging to say the least. I hope things are soon better for her.
Glad you like my cards and thank you about what you said regarding me and my friend. We always need to have someone there in times of need.Delete
So sorry your friend is going through that. Lovely card you made for her.ReplyDelete
She loved the card and she is a strong ladyDelete
Nice card for the hubby. I think I am getting too old to deal with drama in my friends' lives. You cannot make up some of the s--- that goes on.ReplyDelete
Glad you like the card. It's funny how some lives go through quite a bitDelete
I LOVE your blue and purple birthday card, Birgit - beautiful flowers and birds, 2 of my favorites; I bet your husband loved it! Thanks so much for sharing it with us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!ReplyDelete
He did love it and I am so glad he didDelete
Both are beautiful. Very nice of you to make a special one for your friend. Just don't get them mixed up in the envelopes.ReplyDelete
No mixing them up:) they both loved their cardsDelete
Slowly but surely, day by day, I am emerging from seclusion and returning to the blog world following the death of my dear friend Margaret. Thank you very much for supporting and comforting her daughter Kathleen in my absence. I know she appreciates your remarks.
I love the deep masculine shade of blue you selected for your hubby's b-day card. Like him I love animals more so than people. For many years I maintained a bird feeder in my back yard but we have since moved away from that wooded lot. I also admire the butterfly and the color combo on the other card.
Happy birthday to your husband, dear friend BB, and thank you again for being there for Margaret and Kathleen when they needed you the most.
It is so nice to see you here and I know the last few weeks have been hard. I'm glad they liked my words even though it is not much. I hope you can slowly come back to bloglandDelete
What a thoughtful gesture, an a fine looking card too. Well done!ReplyDelete
Thank you so much:)Delete
Feel free to make a card for me anytime, and I don't care if it's girly.ReplyDelete
Thank you and maybe one day I will:)Delete
Nicely done! I like that butterfly.ReplyDelete
The first card kind of looks like a face from a distance. The birds are the eyes, there's a big schnoz below them kind of going sideways to the viewer's right, and eye brows above them - vertical instead of horizontal though.ReplyDelete
Your friend's ex seems like an idiot.
My hubby said the same thing about a face..he said it looked like a pumpkin. He is not kind of an idiot....he is an idiotDelete
So sorry for your friend, sounds like he's a right parentless child. The cruel things some people can do. Lovely card for her, and for hubby.ReplyDelete
He has parents but the apple doesn't fall far from the treeDelete
Both sure turned out grand indeed. The blue really pops. Ugg your friend's husband sure sounds like a scumbucket.ReplyDelete
Thank you about the cards and he is a scumbucketDelete
As a fellow bird lover, I really enjoyed seeing your card in our gallery! The details are wonderful!! Thanks for playing with our Anything Goes challenge at Retro Rubber and hope to see you back in our gallery soon.ReplyDelete
We loved be birds and my hubby makes sure they have plenty of water for bathingDelete
Both beautiful cards, and my heart goes out to your friend, although I don't even know her. Her situation really sounds like a mess.ReplyDelete
It is a mess and he is making life difficultDelete
Two lovely card Birgit...bet hubby loved his and your friend too...what a cheer up it will have been to get your card..divorce is rarely amicable and simple....but knowing she has you as her friend will be wonderful for her xxxxxReplyDelete
Thank you so much about the cards and your kind wordsDelete
Love the flowers in the first one. You put a lot of work into it. I don't think my hands could effectively handle the small pieces.ReplyDelete
I have to admit the leaves stuck to my fingersDelete
Very lovely, as always.ReplyDelete
What makes a "man" card, anyway? Does it have a penis on the inside?
A beautiful work of art is a beautiful work of art, it doesn't matter what colour it is. :-P
Hahahaaaaa. You are right about that and how did you know that I made a pop up card:)Delete
I am so very sorry to hear of your friend's horrid divorce. It is hard to imagine people treating each other that way. So wonderful that she has a friend like you to support her through. Hopefully it is all over very soon.ReplyDelete
Great cards by the way,
