Weekly Song Fest-It’s Beginning to Look a Little Windy

Today it’s supposed to be a very windy day so I hope I don’t lose any roof shingles but, I have to admit, I love wind....not when someone breaks wind, mind you, especially my dog Harley...Peeeeeeuuuuu. Last week, Denise mentioned The Wayward Wind Sung by Gogi Grant and I totally forgot about that beautiful song so I decided to go for the windy theme.

1. THE WAYWARD WIND SUNG BY GOGI GRANT-1955

As I said before, I really love this song. I find it dreamlike and ethereal for some reason. This song was written by Stanley Lebowsky with lyrics by Herb Newman. I had forgotten about this song until Denise mentioned it last week. So, thanks Denise and...by the way, what did you make for Thanksgiving?

2. THEY CALL THE WIND MARIAH SUNG BY VAUGHAN MONROE-1951

This comes from the Lerner & Loewe musical, “Paint Your Wagon”  which I first heard when I watched the movie version starring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood...yes...these 2 in a musical.  This was my favourite song from this musical sung by Harve Presnell in the film version.  Apparently, it became very popular with the soldiers during the Korean War. I never knew that.

3.  DUST IN THE WIND SUNG BY KANSAS-1977

Yeah, so this is about death but, hey, I still find it a beautiful song that was written by Kerry Livgren from Kansas.

So what windy songs come into you head?

  1. I like your windy theme this week. Believe it or not, I have heard all these songs, but didn't recognize any of the singers except Kansas. And of course, the song went big here in Kansas! Unfortunately, I was too young to appreciate it until the next decade.

  2. Super weird. I commented and it appears that it has Gone with the Wind - also a song from 1937 that has nothing to do with the movie.
Anyway, my dinner was a traditional roast turkey with sausage dressing, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Pumpkin pie for dessert.

  3. I enjoyed your windy tunes, Birgit, but had forgotten which movie the Vaughn Monroe song was from. Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood in a musical were quite the novelty! ☺ There are so many songs about wind, but the first two that came to mind were Wind of Change by Scorpions and Elton John's Candle in the Wind.

  4. The Wayward Wind in a version sung by Frank Ifield was my little sisters favourite record when she was about 3.

  5. Wind makes me nervous. But there was a great story about breaking wind circulating on the internet the other day...

  6. The Kansas song is a classic. Of course, anytime I hear it, I think of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and their exchange with Socrates.

  8. I love the wind too! All three of these are terrific songs. I agree The Wayward Wind has that dreamy feel and Gogi's voice is a perfect complement to the lyrics.

Great choices. I love Gogi Grant's voice...

Thank you for this wonderful post, I want to use this opportunity to share about My life how I strunggled with Hiv/Aids Disease before the Lord Jesus in my life as a candle light in the darkness. You showed me the meaning of faith with your words. I know that even when I cried all day thinking about how to recover, you were not sleeping, you were dear to me. I contacted the herbal center Dr Itua, who lived in West Africa. A friend of mine here in Hamburg is also from Africa. She told me about African herbs but I was nervous. I am very afraid when it comes to Africa because I heard many terrible things about them because of my Christianity. god for direction, take a bold step and get in touch with him in the email and then move to WhatsApp, he asked me if I can come for treatment or I want a delivery, I told him I wanted to know him I buy ticket in 2 ways to Africa To meet Dr. Itua, I went there and I was speechless from the people I saw there. Patent, sick people. Itua is a god sent to the world, I told my pastor about what I am doing, Pastor Bill Scheer. We have a real battle beautifully with Spirit and Flesh. Adoration that same night. He prayed for me and asked me to lead. I spent 2 weeks and 2 days in Africa at Dr Itua Herbal Home. After the treatment, he asked me to meet his nurse for the HIV test when I did it. It was negative, I asked my friend to take me to another nearby hospital when I arrived, it was negative. I was overwhite with the result, but happy inside of me. We went with Dr. Itua, I thank him but I explain that I do not have enough to show him my appreciation, that he understands my situation, but I promise that he will testify about his good work.
