Letter J

JURASSIC PARK-1993

Some nut with tons of money, decides to open a theme park with real cloned dinosaurs and is shocked when things don’t work out right. The palaeontologists he asked to come to the island to see his disaster in the making, get stuck out there with the nasty meat eaters along with his own grand kids. Pssst.....the lawyer bites the dust, literally.

It stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Richard Attenborough and a funny Jeff Goldbloom round out the cast but the real stars are the rugged action stars with one thing on their mind, dinner. The effects are mind  blowing and this movie scared the hell out of me. Spielberg gave the cast an autographed velociraptor and Laura Dern, being a sweet mommy, placed it in her kid's room near his crib. Needless to say the kid screamed...I wonder why??

  1. Hi, Birgit!

I have seen Jurassic Park several times along with its sequels including Jurassic World starring Opie's daughter Bryce Dallas Howard.

The original JP is excellent. I got a kick out of Wayne Knight (Newman from Seinfeld) as the overwhelmed tech guy Dennis Nedry. I also admire the work of Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum throughout their respective acting careers.

Thank you, dear friend BB, and happy "J" Day to you!

    1. Wayne Knight is good and creepy in this movie and love his sloppy desk. I agree about Dern and Goldblum whom, I believe, started a romance

  2. I saw this by myself next to a bunch of ten-year olds who were there on a birthday party outing. I screamed more than they did. Lego's Jurassic World take-off is a real hoot.

  6. YES! I have seen this and all the sequels, too. I fell in love with the work Spielberg did making sure the dinos were accurate, even down to their running. It was a coupe for him and the stars. None of the sequels lived up to the first one, and I was really thrilled I got to see this film in a movie theater, while I saw all the sequels on TV. I'm loving what you have chosen this month, because there are many of these I've actually seen.

  7. I first saw this on videotape, and I was so impressed with the CGI that I spent the whole film bemoaning the fact that I hadn't seen it on the "big screen."

  9. Scary film, and it's the only one I saw. Not interested in the sequels.

  10. Such a good movie indeed. The sequels are all pretty meh, but they hit all the right notes with the first.

  11. I've never seen it. There's a bit of family drama that goes into that, but since then, I've discovered my aversion to creature features, of which this is one. Pass.

  12. I thought the kids and the lawyer were so annoying that I was cheering on the dinosaurs...

  13. I generally liked the film. I wasn’t as scared as I wanted to be. My daughter is over the moon that Goldbloom is returning in the next film. Her favorite character with his chaos theory.

  14. I've seen one of the sequels and liked it. One of these days I'll watch the original. Maybe I won't get too scared.

  15. A Whoah! movie. Where the whole dialogue and movie are figuratively Whoah! Akin to the Lethal Weapon Movies when a car crashes into a window. Whoah! The sole remembrance is the side-view mirror, "Objects May Be Closer Than They Appear." Whoah!

Somehow, Hitchcock's movie about modern lil Birds is much better.. and tense.

  16. Birgit,

The Jurassic Park series is one of my favorites and they have a new production out which I can't wait to see. I was happy with the last one at how well they did it. I was a bit apprehensive with all new characters and celebs in it but it worked purrfectly.
