GHOSTBUSTERS-1984
3 freaky, geeky scientists, who love the paranormal, start up a business and must deal with a pencil neck, tons of ghosts, a nerdy accountant and a lovely lass who has Zuul in her fridge.
This is a very funny comedy starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver with many of the cast ad-libbing most of the lines (Dogs and cats sleeping together..Mass hysteria!) that still makes me laugh out loud. Bill Murray didn’t take any money for this role because he wanted financing to do a remake of The Razor’s Edge.
Who you gonna call?
ReplyDeleteBetter Call Saul! :)
Hi, Birgit!
I saw Ghostbusters way back when, but didn't get caught up in the craze as much as you might expect. The cast list reads like a who's who of my favorite funny people and I also like Sigourney. I tend to appreciate films in which the actors are given the freedom to improvise lines of dialogue.
Thank you, dear friend, BB, and have a great weekend!
I laughed so hard when that giant marshmallow appeared. Have seen this many, many times.
ReplyDeleteYes, seen it! I am doing moderately well so far.
ReplyDeleteA grand one indeed. Can never say who you are going to call, without thinking of them. Can forget the second and the remake though.
ReplyDeleteGhostbusters great - Razor's Edge, not so much.
ReplyDeleteHad some really great lines. So, she's a dog.
Wow!!! Another movie I have seen, although on TV. I'm loving this because I can actually relate to some of these films. Even though I don't normally appreciate comedies, I really laughed and laughed at this one, especially when the Marshmallow Man fell off the building,
ReplyDeleteFun flick. A lot of great lines. One of my favorite little bits was the look of pain on the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man's face when he got zapped.
ReplyDeleteI did not realize Bill Murray did not take any money for this! That's stunning. I also didn't realize there was so much ad-libbing. Great info, Birgit.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
This one is a classic! Bill Murray is a comic genius!
ReplyDeleteOnly 2 years after I was born but I did enjoy this one :) You've found some good ones!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about Murray. Good for him. I liked his version of Razor's Edge. Too bad it got panned.
ReplyDeleteI heard the Murray role was written for John Belushi.. who was a ghost by the time filming started.
ReplyDeleteMurray was on point, as expected.
Rick Moranis stole the show. Big Time.

Hi Birgit - I've never seen this ... perhaps one day .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteToo bad they can't make a good sequel
ReplyDeleteI saw Ghost Busters and don't remember much about it except the music. I did try and watch it again on TV and didn't think much of it at all although I think I enjoyed it the first time.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this movie in ages- but I did watch it growing up and loved it. :)

I still haven't seen this one. I liked the remake though.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I remember this one. Some teacher just played it for her class recently...
ReplyDeleteI was gone this past weekend but I thank you for all the great comments. I always loved this movie and still do. I agree that the sequel is not that good but I do want to see the remake. I still have to see The Razor's Edge and will one day. i love all the ad-libbing..and Mr. Stay Puff.
ReplyDeleteI love Ghostbusters - it's of it's time, so has a few moments when I'd like to throw things, but I still love it. I really love the second one too, and the new one :)

It's been many years since I've seen this one. I do recall enjoying it a great deal. This is one that I actually saw in the theater.

Tossing It Out
That is a great choice. I love that movie :)
ReplyDeleteFun film. Sigourney Weaver was great in the scenes where she was possessed!
ReplyDeleteBirgit,
ReplyDeleteThe old Ghostbuster films were hilarious and loads of fun! That was in the day when screenwriters had a good sense of humor. This was the golden era for Bill Murray in the film busines.
